Hi! I’m new ^_^

Hi! I’m Jutchy, and I discovered that pet bunnies are awesome only on christmas 2009. So M.Toupoutou is my very first bun-bun.

I’m not too sure how old he is, but I’m guessing around 2 years old.  I got him as a present in november 2009, and the pet shop lady didn’t know when he was born and told us he was between 6 and 8 months old.

It was lucky find that day; I was going to the mall to get christmas presents for my family, and I stoped by the pet-shop to grab some food for my Degus and fill up on cuteness by looking at the baby animals. Tne I saw this big white lop all on his own in a corner of the store. He had a big ”SPECIAL” tag on his tiny little cage because nobody wanted him because he wasn’t a baby. I always put my fingers in the cages, even though I know I could get bitten. So, again, I did. But then he just rubbed himself against my hand and put his head under my fingers. I started petting him, and he just lay there closing his eyes happily.

My boyfriend was with me and I kept going back to his cage, so he asked me if I would like a bunny for christmas since he had no idea what to get me. I didn’t want to get a pet on a whim like that, because if I did that all the time, my appartment would be a zoo…

So we decided to go eat and ponder on it… I kept thinking about that puffy white lop. I’m not allowed dogs in my appartment, and a cat would just eat my degus upon arriving in the appartment. I had also heard that rabbits, lops in particular, are pretty socialble, and even though i love my degus, they prefer being amongst themselves and couldn’t care less about being pet.

So we got him =D

At first, it was a real challenge. I had NO idea how to take care of him. Many hours were spent on the web, learning stuff, checking when he should be neutered and all (which we did and everything went wonderfully)
I also learned how to bunny proof my wires the hard way. Poutou didn’t get injured, but he destroyed my Wii and our stereo system (good thing my father is an electrician and could fix it and that Poutou didn’t get to the power line..)

I’m an artist, and my little fuzz ball has been a great inspiration since Ii got him. You can see how many bunnies I drew since then! jutchy.deviantart.com  I also plan on starting a cute little animation on the Poutou ventures one day, so bunny annecdotes would be nice to have, may be I could feature your own bun-bun in it one day! ^_^

I found out about binky bunny.com because Poutou has been feeling ill lately, and I thank everyone for their help. He’s my first bunny, but I’ll do everything in my power for him to get the proper care (he’s already feeling much better too!)

Poutou’s favorite foods are carrot leaves, apples, watermelon (no seeds), pears, and mint! (most of those are only used as treats though =P)

Poutou is very lucky. He looks like adorable. I hope you post some pics of him!!!
I loved learning how to take care of bunnies. It’s so much fun to dig in and research everything. You feel like you are really being a good bun-parent. Im happy that you got online and found out how to take care of him instantly.
What was wrong with him? I hope he will make a full recovery, and Im happy that he is getting better! <<>>
Im an artist too! I dont have anything on the web, but I draw inspiration from Huckleberry, like you do from Poutou. She is usually a grumpy bun, but when she does binky, its very inspiring.

Poutou had something blocking his stomach. It was unclear on the x-ray since he was full but the vet and I suspected a hairball.

@Huckleberry : Aren’t bunnies the most inspirational animal ever? I mean sure, dogs and cats make faces too, but with bunnies, you really have to observe them and interpret it more. Plus their way of eating and drinking and their little tongue sticking out when they eat something a little sticky is just TOO cute!

Welcome! He is a lucky bun that you happened into that petstore that day! So often people fall in love first… then they have to backpedal and do a little research on how to care for their new pet. It’s not ideal, but it happens, and the important thing is that you did it and he’s a happy guy! I’d love to see some pics of him and your degus!
