Hi everyone !
I am a bunny loving mama, still getting the hang of this website will upload a picture of our Oreo, I have a daughter 8 and she is the greatest with our bunny.
Alittle bit about us. I had always wanted a bunny since I was a little girl, my parents before I was born raised bunnies but then they had a fox get into the pen and they never wanted bunnies again. I never got my bunny but last year we had a bunny give birth in our yard and my daughter became fascinated with bunnies she was always protecting the hole where the bunnies were born. My mom was very ill and fortunately the bunny had given birth by the window my mom could see out of. She watched my daughter for hours guarding that hole and my daughter would talk to the baby bunnies. My mom decided she wanted to get my daughter a bunny from that point on.
One morning my dad got wind a woman he worked with was re homing her bunny for 30 dollars, He called me and told me and my mom was very excited she told me get over there now. So my daughter and I went over and we fell in love! Oreo came into our lives!
The back story on our little Oreo is that she was born April 1st 2016 she spent the first 7 months of her life in her cage with no human contact I could cry thinking about that.) She was adopted by the family in December of 2016 as a “Christmas” present for the woman’s 4 kids. But it was too much for the woman to handle hence why she was re homing. (I think Oreo bit her kids). She bit ALOT when we got her and they were deep bites so she wasn’t playing around. She wasn’t used to human contact and when she saw our hands she would come at them with her teeth. We could have easily re homed her but I’m not that type I am a very committed person. She came with a small cage so my dad upgraded her to a bi level home with a little cubby hole to hide in which I fill with hay daily. We open her cage daily some days she prefers to stay in which I may be wrong but I think from reading on this site that it could be the weather changing to winter and her background from her first owner.
It took us awhile to adjust to bunny life but once we did having her part of our family has been a blessing, she no longer bites unless it’s our feet or pants for attention. She is super nosy when we change something in the house like setting up the Christmas tree she loves going under it and she hates the tree skirt so she pulls it out.
Oreo has help us cope with my mom’s passing it’s like my mom knew she was going to leave us and she passed away in March of this year. Oreo is our little piece of my mom and when we need my mom we hold Oreo and put her and even buy her a new treat. I can’t imagine our lives without our little joy.
Oreo now loves to spend time in my daughters room and she loves to explore under my bed she is very adventurous compared to when we first got her now she is up and down the stairs and always finding new places to lay down and veg out.
I found that this site has been my go too on all her needs so I figured it was time to join and be part of the community it’s great to meet all of you look forward to more posts and continuing to read all about your fur babies !!!!!!
