        Hello

My name is Lexy and I’m from sweden.
I used to have bunnies (6 in total) but they died of old age, and i didn’t have the heart to take new ones. But recently a friend approached me as she has 3 groups of bunnies (she has a big yard and is living the dream haha) she rescued a buck from an online ad which showed the buck in bad conditions. She got him castrated and everything and tried bonding him with her other groups (neutral terrain and everything, she knows her stuff) but it wouldn’t work. He was very territorial and mean to all the other bunnies. She tried with a variation of couples and groups but his reaction remained the same, and sadly he kept drawing blood.
She asked me if i would be open to taking him and I think that would be nice, and i am ready but she can’t seem to get him bounded, she’s been driving to rescue shelters with him hoping to find him a nice girl but so far the scenario always ends the same.
I was hoping to get some advice here on what to do and if need be if it would be okay to leave him on his own or not. Totally willing to keep trying but we’re running out of options :/

        Much Love

          Welcome to BB!
It is not always necessary to keep bunnies with other bunnies in the way it is for say, guinea pigs. If he seems to prefer being alone, it is perfectly fine to keep him alone, as long as he receives suitable human attention and playtime.

            Welcome, welcome!

Wick is a single bunny; always has been! He was a runt, so I suspect he was kind of used to being on his lonesome from the beginning… which made me feel even more guilty each time I’d leave for work during the first few months!! I work full-time, 8AM to 6PM, but my commute is an hour, so it’s more 7AM to 7PM. Wick sees me when I let him out for the hour when I get up to get ready for work (6-7AM), then he goes back in his hutch. My boyfriend lets him out when he starts his day, but there are days when he has to go somewhere, so Wick is left free-roaming alone for the day. When I return at night, it lasts until about 11PM, then I put him back in his hutch while I sleep.

Wick doesn’t show any behavioral signs of being lonely or wanting social attention. He likes napping and squeezing through furniture tunnels; he’s very happy!

In short, there’s nothing wrong with having be a single bachelor, as long as you’re there to provide love and attention.

Hello! I am new to BB and rabbit ownership in general, but I adopted a rabbit who may be similar to yours! We adopted her from the shelter after 2 previous adoptions where she failed to bond with other rabbits. She is quite dominant and will fight with others and draw blood. We adopted her as a single rabbit 4 months ago and she seems to be doing well on her own! She is free range in the apartment and my husband and I have staggered work schedules, so she ends up getting human interaction all day except from about 10am to 3pm (when she is asleep anyways) and while we are asleep.

I haven’t seen any behavioral signs of her being lonely or bored, its great to see her binky and be happy

I don’t have any regrets about having a single rabbit. Someday when I have the time and space, and perhaps she has mellowed out, I may try to bond her (they say there’s someone out there for every bunny!). I don’t feel like this is urgent though and I don’t think there is anything wrong with keeping one rabbit if they have lots of other attention!
