Experience from other members say they will change as they get older. The sweet little cute little huggy buns will go through adolesence. Some remain cute and huggy, some rebel from all off-the-floor (ie being picked up) hugs (mine).
It is also a known fact that uterine cancer is exceedingly high in unspayed girl bunnies (obviously not in boys!) once they reach 3 or 4 years old.
I umm’d and ahh’d about getting Zou (my rabbit) done and because her hormones really kicked in when she was 2 (just gone) and so I got her op’d… which turned out to be a good thing because her ovaries were ‘worryingly strange (as the vet put it) – or maybe her change of personality which I put down to hormonal change was actually her in some sort of pain or discomfort.
Anyhoo, everyone but everyone on here WILL say girl buns should be spayed.
Lots of différences of opinions as to exactly when though – some say ASAP, before the girls start to get into rebelling teenhood. Some say wait until they don’t seem too bonded and get them done when they start having a go at each other.
Myabe another member will be able to advise on if getting them done at the same time and so recovering together side by side makes a bond stronger between 2 girls ?
