Hi everyone! My name’s Emma, I’ve been browsing the forum quite a lot, so here’s a formal introduction. I actually posted a little bit ago about a bunny I was planning to adopt back in May, unfortunately I never got to bring him home from the shelter since the little guy passed away a few weeks ago while recovering from dental surgery.  I was heartbroken for quite a bit, but despite all that waiting I did end up bringing home Cinnabun yesterday from the shelter!

She is a 6 year old mini lop rabbit, she is very timid but very sweet. I put some pictures of her on here and I’m so happy that she is part of the family! I’ll be on here a lot asking for advice and reading up on rabbit knowledge. I’ve owned guinea pigs, hamsters, and a dog in the past, but this is my first rabbit! I’m very nervous and excited and hope she warms up to me eventually. She is already litter trained and is free roam in my studio apartment (I have an XL dog cage setup for her litter box and some fleece) and so far, no poops or pees outside the litter box, not even in the cage. She did get spayed on Monday but she’s been doing really well, I had to give her a dose of medication this morning which she was not too thrilled about… she has one more dose this evening and then she’ll be done with that!

Any advice on bonding/taming would be highly appreciated! I kind of just let her settle in yesterday and didn’t approach her, I’ve kind of just been sitting on the ground and she’s been sniffing me and circling me quite a lot, but I can tell she’s still afraid. She finally ate a tiny piece of banana from my hand today, though! Anyways, sorry for my long rant… super excited to finally have a precious bun, I researched and debated for a year before I finally caved in.

Oooh! She’s so cute! If you have any question feel free to ask! Also it’s good that you waited before approaching her. For the first couple of days I would let her explore and then gradually introduce yourself by sitting on the ground and waiting for her to approach you. Also try hand feeding her some veggies or fruits. Also I’m so sorry that the bunny you were going to take home died. But now you have your sweet little Cinnabun! Welcome to the bunny world!

              Welcome !!!
Ahhhh she’s very cute indeedie. If all her food comes from you in the first few weeks she will associate you with goood things.
Hand feed her pellets or veggie leaves (or tiny bits of banana) and she’ll start coming to you automatically.

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone!!

She’s been warming up to me quite well and everything has been going great, besides the fact that now that she’s super curious and exploring her pooping habits are OUT OF WHACK!! Not sure if it’s because of the recent spay that her hormones are all over the place… she seems healthy, very active but just pooping and peeing in different places in the apartment. It seems territorial since she chooses particular spots (like the rug) to pee/poo in, they are fluffy-like surfaces. I’ve cleaned everything up and constricted her area to a smaller space of the apartment until she goes strictly in her litter box again

That’s normal. Bunny hormones will settle down after a month or so.
