Hi. I used to be a fairly active member of the forum, but life got in the way. The last time I posted here I was having problems with finding caregivers for my rabbits when I was going to move off to college. Well Eclipse, seen in my avatar, is now my mom’s rabbit. She lives in the dining room (and who are we kidding, it is the “animal room”!), in this strange little pen my mom set up. Not sure why she doesn’t hop out, because it is low enough she probably could if she wanted to do so, but it works, and they like each other. Nova, my little micro Polish, will be going with me to the dorms after the break is over. I just ordered an extra large super-pet cage for her when she is living there with me (I am calling it the “beach house”. It is a considerable downgrade from the 20 sqft of living space she has now (to about 5 ), but hey, that is college living. It is cramped for me too! And it isn’t like she won’t have time out of it during the day. Plus she isn’t really an active rabbit. She is more of an “I am going to loaf and look cute” rabbit. She spends about 90% of her time loafing, 5% eating and pooping, 4% destroying, and 1% acting grumpy.
During the summer she will come back (as will I) and be in her larger pen. Next school year I will be in a different living situation where it will be even easier to bring her! I would post pictures, but alas, I have a very cruddy little camera that eats batteries, and I don’t know when the DSLR that I am so desparately waiting for will go on sale.

This is the cage I got. Yes, overpriced compared to what I could make (and I am not stranger to making cages!), but it will work and it is fool proof, which is a must for a dorm. I won’t be using the treat thing (when I first saw it, I had a “wth?” moment!). I do love the doors though. They are easy to open and close (I tried it in a store). And being on wheels means it can stay under my bed and be pulled out for maintenence. Under the bed sounds worse than it is. My bed is about 4ft off the ground, and has a good view of my room. It isn’t as dark and secluded as it sounds…

          Hello! Welcome back. : )

I’m happy to read Nova will be going with you. I’m sure she’ll adjust ok to the habitat changes, she has someone familiar to help her adjust.
My rabbits often opt to go under the bed and sleep the day away. Nova might quite like it!

I don’t think she remembers me much. Haha. Or she is only remembering me as the bad guy… She is tame when I catch her, but she is much harder to catch. She went feral! 😮 Of course she will be easier to catch in the tiny cage, and I just ordered another clicker, so I can try to clicker train her into friendliness. And since she will essentially be my only animal for 4 months, save my precious bettas and tarantula, she will get lots of pets, treats, and maybe even snuggles.

I will probably make another topic trying to make sure I have all of the essentials for bunny college life.
