Hello, all!
Checking in again…hopefully now that it’s summer and I don’t have PAPERS TO GRADE I can be around more!
Lizzy and Robbie are fine, although they are currently not speaking to me because I moved the new foundling, Little, into the dining room with them, so now they’re next-door neighbors. Lizzy was crawling the walls at first, and actually attacking Robbie a bit, because she was so upset. But now they just ignore her, and me, apparently! Little was not getting over her psycho-aggressive behavior, despite having been spayed (did I mention here that the spay was actually an abortion? EEEEK! Close call!), so I wanted to move her more into the thick of things to get more socialization. Besides, she’s a rowdy fiend 6am-8am! LOUD…just long enough to ensure that I won’t be able to go back to sleep, then she lounges out and congratulates herself for finding one more way to torture me! And then she bite me for good measure!
My BF’s boy bun, Thumper FINALLY gets neutered, after a year of nagging, TOMORROW! Then a week later, I’ll pass Little off to him, so she can start to bond with BF. And 3 weeks later, he’s going to try bonding Little and Thumper. If he can’t manage it (I love my BF, but I’m not holding my breath on this one!), they both come to me and I’ll have to give it a go.
Meanwhile, I’ve started volunteering at the rescue that I adopted Little from! This will be my 3rd week. There’s 40 bunnies, and I am in love with half of them, particularly this pair of bonded brothers who are harlequin, but PINK AND GREY harlequin! I’ll have to get some piccies for you all! And the poor guys have been in that shelter for 2 years….I’m sorely tempted to “foster” them as soon as the Little-Thumper situation is resolved!
Oh, and Lizzy is supposed to be on Disapproving Rabbits this week!
(I really wish this site were easier to negotiate on my cell phone…then I could stay up on it more…)
Can’t wait to catch up with you all!

Ok so I haven’t read your post yet…..just wanted to say I’m binkying ! Lightchick is here! Will go diligently read the post now…
Ok! So this is awesome you are doing rescue work!!!!!!!!! How do you though? I would get too attached! When I read Little/rowdy/6-8am I thought “time for her to go the the BF’s pronto” lol. Glad this is still in the plans so all the buns can pair up.
You really got a handful when you picked up Little but what a huge difference you made. Imagine 10 more of her running around wild!
Lovely to hear from you……going off to check DR now………
Hi, Kate I missed you too! I so wish you’d get on Facebook (which I can actually get on my phone, so I actually stay current on it…I make my non-rabbit friends crazy because every other post is bunny-related! LOL!)!
I know, Little is SUCH a pain! She has moments of niceness, but she talks with her teeth! I have threatened REPEATEDLY to take her to the shelter (which I couldn’t actually do because it would only make her cage-agression worse….but I have seriously had moments of…not regret that I saved her, but regret that I don’t have the right personality to civilize her). Actually, I told the founder of the rescue, ‘I’ll trade you one unadoptable evil little dwarf for 3 perfectly nice sweet bunnies!’ (girl bun for Thumper, and bonded pair for me), and she said, ‘REALLY?! You’re on!’ and then I felt guilty. Sigh. So Little stayed.
The thing with the shelter is that the bunnies are so GRATEFUL. For everything. They get excited when someone comes in. The second you bring them out of their hutches to play in a pen (the same pens our brats feel confined by), they do huge binkies! They LOVE getting greens, and some of them have learned to lower their heads out of their hutches so you can’t close the door, and you have to pet them! They’re so HAPPY with any attention you give them, and that makes it ok. If they were sulky all the time like the divas I have at home, I’d feel worse, because I’d feel like I wasn’t doing enough to make them happy…but what we do for them, DOES make them happy! I wish I could take them all home, but having kidnapped 2 park-bunnies, I know they’re better off in the shelter than running around in the “wild”.
Oh, and Lizzy not on DR today…they just said this week. Have no idea what the caption is either!

Hey LC! ((((((((hugs)))))))))))
Good to hear from you again. I WAS starting to worry (and not just about you either…lots of members are AWOL lately)!
I am sorry to hear how Little’s spay went, but at least she’s healthy and safe now. I think that would’ve shredded me to have something like that happen with a bunny of mine.
These harlequins sound gorgeous. I’ve wanted one for a long time now myself. (I doubt the hubby would allow a fourth bunny though, even if I were close enough.)
Can’t wait to see Lizzy’s DR debut! ^_^ I know how thrilled I was when Fiver made it back in February. Their captions are so funny, I couldn’t think of tag lines like theirs if my life depended on it.
Hugs to your bunnies!
Hey LC!!
So glad that Lizzy & Robbie are well.
Little sounds like a handful. I have heard that some cage aggressive Rabbits are “better” when they have more room. I’m sure it takes a lot of patients.
I love helping out at my shelter. But, yes, it is so tough not to take them all home. There are several pairs that have been there since 2007 and one since 2006 – I have no idea why they have not been adopted yet – but with about 100 bunnies they can get lost in the crowd.
Great to hear from you LC! That was a close call with Little too…good thing you got her in right away.
Sounds like you are enjoying the shelter volunteering too. It is sad to see bunnies at the shelter for so long too.
Lizzy’s on DR today!
I haven’t told her highness, though, because she was a bad thing and peed on my couch to protest the Little-stink on it. And then she tried to eat my carpet, I’m assuming for the same reason.
Uh, oh…gotta go. She’s on the loveseat marking pillows now….the raised tail will be coming next.
Grrr!
Glad to hear from you, Lightchick!
I just left a comment on DR. That Disapproving Diva.
Oooo…she’s a caution that one!
*runs off to look up DR*
My favourite Lizzie picture
I hope Little calms down with Thumper’s influence. From what you’ve said about him, he’s an absolute sweet heart. And did you say that she only bites you and not bf? Maybe they’ll get along better…
I have to go look up Lizzy on D. R. congrats
OH boy I understand about the bonding and bf. I am scared to leave hubby in charge of my buns. He might feed them bread and loads of fruit. He did that with HB. He wouldn’t stop either.
He said she likes it I know and we like icecream and choc but that doesn’t mean we should eat loads of it.
Sounds like your bf is doing good with buns though. It should be ok the bonding.
I thought that was your Lizzy on DR when I saw her!!!
That’s so sad that those 2 harlequins have been waiting for a home for so long
I would love to volunteer at a rabbit shelter if there were any here but it must be so hard seeing all the buns needing homes.
I found her just yesterday! NICE shot! ^_^
There were some other really grouchy looking bunnies on there that just had me in stitches too. Did anyone see the grey bunny (I think it’s name was Lily?) WHAT a sour puss! 0_o I’d be scared to go to sleep with that face sulking at me. lolz!
Congratulations! Lizzy looks really good!
Congrats on the DR pic! It is too cute
I hope that all goes well with Little’s bonding – I’m quite sure you are right to anticipate they will probably be visiting your house for “bonding camp”!
