I just adopted two buns yesterday. I had buns when I was younger but bunny care has come a lot way since then so I’m hoping with the help of this community I can become a better caregiver. I’m not sure of the exact age of my buns for they are adult lops. I met them a week ago and they were bonded and fell in love very quickly. The lady from the rescue even mentioned them doing suprisingly well by day two. They have been in my home for about 24hrs now and I’m so happy they have each other. It must be frightening enough coming into a new place but they seem to find comfort in each other. We are head over heels about them and my daughter was even able to feed Ruby an apple slice from her hand earlier. They seem to be adjusting well and I’m looking forward to soon being alble to give them a little more leg room and playtime outside of their NIC cage.
Here are their stories (copied from the rescues page)
Gilby-renamed Max
Mini-Lop/Holland Lop Mix
Cute Gilby came in to us as a young guy from a kill shelter in PA in Nov. 2009. He weighs 5+ pounds and is an active, friendly, handsome fellow with a broken agouti coat.
and
Myrtle- renamed Ruby
Mini-Lop/Holland Lop Mix
This pretty young adult Holland Lop / Mini lop, just about 6 pounds came from a rural shelter after she had been found as a stray this past summer.
We weren’t going to rename them but my daughter couldn’t say their names and her favorite show is Max and Ruby so I figured why not. I’m hoping to post some photos soon but I couldn’t figure it out so I need to look into that.
