Heya everyone!

I’m a first-time bunny owner and figured I’d join a bunny forum, like I joined a rat forum when I first started owning rats.

I got my first (and only) bunny, Artemis, exactly two months ago tomorrow! She’s a black polish bunny, and I’m not exactly sure of her age, but I think judging by her behaviour she’s probably under a year. She’s still pretty active and likes to spend her time exploring. She’s an indoor bunny, and she has a cage but is only in it at night, to eat/drink and use her litter box. I’ve heard that bunnies aren’t actually the cute, affectionate animals everybody assumes they are, and though Artemis will lay on my feet if I’m in my room, she’s not too cuddly. She likes to flop over next to me if we’re in bed, and let’s me pet and kiss her, but that’s all she puts up with haha.
I got her from a… pretty weird guy who was neglecting her and his other bunnies, and I hadn’t even intended to get her. My friend wanted two more bunnies to keep her first bunny company, and ended up giving me Artemis when she didn’t think she could care for three bunnies. I’ve wanted a bunny for a couple of years now, but was never able to get one due to my mom’s allergy to them. Turns out she outgrew it though, and sometimes I think she loves Artemis more than I do! Though she was a surprise, I have the money and time to dedicate to her, so she’s perfectly well taken care of.

So, yeah! I already have some questions, and I’m definitely not an expert even through all the research I’ve done, so expect to see me around!

My bun is exactly the same, a good head scratch, kisses and flopping next to us but no cuddles as of yet! We’ve only had our little guy a month or so though

I’ve heard Polish ears are supposed to be straight up, but hers always seemed to kind of flop to the side haha!

Ah, so you’re kind of in the same boat! I worked a lot in the beginning so, she would free roam with her toys for a couple hours in the day, with my mom checking on her. Now that I’m home most of the time though it seems like she spends most of her time following me and being as close as she cares to get :,)

Yeah I work 9-5 Monday to Friday but my other half works shifts so Garf is usually only alone 4-5 hours a day and doesn’t seem to mind – he just sleeps  he’s got quite a decent sized set up when we’re not there and when we’re home he has the entire living room.

I sure hope so!
Seeing her around other people makes me particularly warm and fuzzy, since she’s usually kind of jumpy and skittish around well… basically anybody else haha.
The only other person she’s relaxed around is my step sister, but even then she keeps her distance.

Yeah, exactly! I had a pretty intense ten hour shift that started at six am in the first couple of weeks that I had her, so we only had a couple hours out of the day to really bond, but my mom was around to sort of keep her company. Now I’m going to be starting a more normal job soon, so I think even she’s going to appreciate the more normal hours haha.

Yeah, the breeder told us she was Polish, but I’m starting to think otherwise haha.
Sometimes I see pictures of Polish bunnies that seem to fit, but I’ve also heard the ears are supposed to be straight up and hers tend to flop.
