I think we should have a sticky on all of the boards, at the top of the page, of a list of vets in the US, UK, Canada, and International.  We have the notice of “CALL YOUR VET IMMEDIATELY!” on all the pages, but I think we should also have a link that’s very easy to find on all parts of the board, for panicking bunny parents who came here for help, who need a vet. .

Especially the international vets, as we get quite a few members from other countries who don’t really have a resource for finding exotics vets, or even any vet at all, in their area.

So I think something on every page, that’d be very easy to spot and highly visible, that would say something like, “NEED A VET?  LIST OF THEM HERE!”.  What’d you think?

Oh, but instead of searching for the vets (links above) I think it too would be great to have a sticky with the vet listings. x

We’re hesitant to list vets directly. It may be misunderstood to mean those vets are “BB-endorsed”. There’s a fine line between providing OTHER resources that list vets and taking the responsibility upon ourselves to say “these are vets you can go to”. This might be confusing, but we’ve had these discussions before and this was the consensus.

This, exactly!  I think just having the two links you guys posted as stickies on all the boards would be wonderful.

There are pins in the Q&A section – the problem with these pins sometimes is that members kind of ignore them as they aren’t active.

I’m also not entirely sure how up to date many of these vet lists really are.

I always suggest that new rabbit owners seek out a vet prior to getting their rabbit and then get established that way with their vet – that is truly the ideal way rather than seeking out a vet once your rabbit is sick.

But when you think about it, how many posts do we get here of people worried about something their bunny is doing/not doing/some symptom, and they have no idea where to take them?  There’s the ideal way.. and there’s the real world, unfortuntately.

If every city in the world had a small exotics vet, then we wouldn’t even have to worry about it.  Hey, a girl can hope, right?

bunnnnnnie! – thank you so much for the suggestion and caring about members and community. Definitely having a list and/or resources is important for those that have found themselves in a bind. The links we do offer do provide a number of good resources (Bunspace especially seems to be ever growing member referral option as well). It will take the member her a few minutes click on the links and find a the closest vet.

Hopefully the links we provide will be helpful as it is very time consuming to create such a list, as well as then maintain it as vets and practices change. (and so do the URLs)

It’s not something I am fully opposed to in the future with proper “legal lines” included but it’s just something we cannot manage at the moment. However, I really appreciate the suggestion!

EDITED TO ADD:  One thing thing though that I did change just now is I added a the vet resource link to Bunny 911 line at the top of the forum.  Even though it doesn’t lead straight to a vet list, it still leads to links with vet lists.  So that was a good idea that I could implement right now. Thank you!

                                  Jen,
Great idea to add the link to Bunny 911. I hate to say this, but I had trouble spotting it just now. Could you make the type of “Bunny 911” larger and in a different color that stands out from the rest, like blue? (pretty please?) ….I heard that. Thanks.
