Help With Bunny

Ive had my bunny for 11 weeks now. I got him from the petstore. I dont know if it is a girl or boy yet, or how old it is for that matter. I do know he has grown alot. I think he was between 6-8 weeks when i got him. My question is what should i do to figure out what sex he is? also ive been feeding him pellets, is it time for veggies? He is a holland lop i believe.

Questions:

Should i take him to the vet?

What should he be eating now?

Age guess if possible?

I got my bunny from a pet store too! Make sure he’s getting plenty of hay and he needs an alfalfa based pellet up until he’s a year old. I highly recommend Oxbow products. To figure out the sex of the rabbit you can google it, and have a friend hold the rabbit while you check. I got my rabbit when he was about 8 weeks, I waited until he was around 6 months to take him to the vet because I planned on getting him neutered right after that initial visit. Then again, I’ve owned a few rabbits before so I knew a lot more, if this is your first time owning a rabbit I suggest you take him to the vet to get plenty of information. And to make sure he’s healthy.

Oh! And I HIGHLY suggest pet insurance. It’s only about $12 a month. My rabbit just broke his leg last week and if I had the insurance I would be saving myself about $1,000 right now. And if you get the insurance before you take him to the vet it’ll be cheaper.

Plus he’s such a cute little lop! Gosh, I want a lop so bad they’re adorable!

He/she is probably around 4 months or so now. I’m guessing that because he looks about 8 weeks-ish in the first picture. If he is a boy, his jewels should be visible at this point. So take a look! If they are there, they will be located above/in front of his genitals area. They look like 2 thumb pads peeking through the fur. If they are there, then there is no mistaking it’s a boy. If they are not there, then that doesn’t guarantee you have a girl. LOL

He/she is adorable by the way!

You can start introducing veggies now. Just make sure to try different kinds one at a time to make sure nothing upsets his stomach.

It’s always a good idea to take a new bunny (or any pet) to the vet just to make sure everything is good. It’s a good idea to get yourself established with a vet before there is a problem and to make sure they are rabbit savvy. You can discuss neutering/spaying as well and your vet will should be able to tell gender at this age.

Thanks! He gets unlimited supply of hay, pellets & water. I just don’t know when to start offering veggies! I will get my husband to help me Check to see what sex “he” is. I will also schedule him a vet visit. Sorry to hear about your buns broken leg. I’ve done lots of research the only thing hindering me is I don’t K know how old he is…

Thanks! I will definitely schedule a vet visit for him and get my hubby to help me with figuring out if he is a he or she lol! I will definitely read up introducing veggies! At what age is it appropriate to spay/neuter?

If he’s a boy, he can be neutered now. Girls should wait until they are ~6 months.
