I just got back from a 5 long day trip in Orlando. Toby stayed at home but our neighbor fed him and checked on him twice daily. When I got home he was excited to see me and I played with him for a good hour. He climbed upstairs by himself to come to my room with me.Then I brought him down to his cage and he started breathing very fast. He keeps breathing really hard and fast. He then laid down and breathed fast again. He got up and then went and laid back down on his stomach. Maybe he was just agitated from the excercise and climbing up the stairs? Then I put him back in his cage and he laid back down. Once he laid back down, he made a noise like “arghhh”. It scared me. I called my mom m and she came down to his cage. He laid on his stomach for a solid minute and then just popped up and was fine again. We let him out and he ran around for 5 minuets. What was this behavior? Why’d he act all lethargic and then completely fine after 10 minuets??? Even though he’s fine now, I’m still nervous cause the breathing fast and weird noise was really nerve racking for me. Please help

Sounds like gas and gas pains. Some baby gas drops should help out

It could be that. But do you think that the fast breathing had to do with gas problems? If so, I have baby gas drops at home. How much do I give him? He’s acting completely fine today so should I still give him some?

Can someone else please give more ideas on what it could be? He’s acting fine today but just in case those symptoms happen again, I want to be prepared on what to do.

Leopold breathes faster when he has gas, I assume because of the pain.

do you know how many gas drops I should give?

MediRabbit says 1-2 ml once an hour for 2-3 doses, then 1 ml every 8 hours. Honestly, I’ve never had to give Leopold that much. I give him 1mL or even a little less. It generally only takes one dose. But other bunnies are different.
