I got a new rabbit (Meesha) as a playmate for my other rabbit (Bubble Berry Bun) about three months ago and something’s been wrong with her lately. She’s still extremely shy, but now she is loosing A LOT of weight. She was maybe 4 or 5 pounds when I got her, and I wish I had a scale to measure her but she’s got to be under a pound by now. I watched my rabbits eat together and I noticed Bubble Berry eats very fast and steals her food. So I separated them and fed her extra. She ate hay and little salads I’d make for her but it would take her hours and sometimes never finish. She’s still loosing weight. Finally I called the vet two days ago and made an appointment after I noticed she was starting to slightly tilt her head to her left side. That was on Friday and it’s Sunday now. The appointment is Tuesday. I’m getting extremely worried about her, she sits in the same spot for hours with her head even more tilted and her ears are very crooked. I tried picking her up and seems so weak, there’s poop and pee in her fur and it doesn’t seem like she’s able to clean herself. Please help me in at least explaining what could be happening and if I should wait two more days for the vet or take her to a pet hospital!!!!

I’m trying to attached photos, the first two are from when I noticed the head tilt begin, the last one is today.

I would ring your vets and stress that it is an emergency and your bunny is very weak and technically not eating. There is a nasty bug called e cuniculi which causes a head tilt and your bunny will need worming and apprentice stimulants (probably) if that’s the cause – however it may not be. She may need some fluids and syringe feeding to help her get her strength back but I would definitely NOT wait until Tuesday! Good luck! X

I agree with Emily that this could be e cuniculi, a microorganism that many buns carry and a few get sick from. It can cause weight loss and head tilt.

You shouldn’t wait until Tuesday before you take her in. I think you should call a vet. It sounds like she could need supportive care (fluids, warming up etc.) Try to keep her warm. Sick buns tend to get cold and it’s dangerous for them. You can use a hot water bottle with a towel around it or hand warmers.
            Many vibes for (((((Meesha)))))

No vets in our town would take her, we found out she had a dental abscess and we finally got her to one out of town but died before we could pick her up
