So I got a new rabbit Thursday, and I dropped off stool samples friday morning for it. I have another rabbit who was being tested for coccidia but her stool results have come back negative so I have been keeping them completely seperate. The new bunnys stool sample came back Saturday afternoon and it was positive for coccidia. There is no way the new bunny could have gotten coccidia from the other bunny, because they have been in seperate cages and we completely sanitized everything besides the old bunny doesn’t have coccidia anymore. But regardless, the new bunny had poops that were a little moist not runny but just darker and a little wet yesterday. We brought her to the vet, she had a clean bill of health other than the coccidia. The vet gave me albon and some probiotics for the moist poops. I gave both to the bunny yesterday and she seemed fine all day. When we woke up this morning there was runny stool in her cage. I don’t understand where this runny stool is coming from. She did not have runny stool before the medicine. Also the air conditioner was on last night but it was also on Friday night.. I don’t know if it was the cold air that caused an imbalance. Or could it be the probiotics? Since she wasn’t necessarily having “runny” stool before, her stool was just a little moist. Should I take away her pellets? Should I stop giving her the probiotics? Or continue since that’s the only solution for runny stool.. I don’t know. Is my bunny going to be ok? I am so worried I have never seen runny stool before.
