Help! Rabbit won’t stop peeing on my bed!

 For starters my rabbit’s name is Marley and she is the best friend I could ever ask for! I recently redid my room because I wanted her to have more space to move about. She has always had full range of my room but with the recent changes she has been able to acess my bed. I wanted her to be able to snuggle with me on the bed when I watch Prison Break on netflix! However, ever since the change she has been peeing and pooping on my bed. I have tried to redirect her to her litter box but in bunbun fashion she is stubborn as all hell and continues to do so. How can I get my snuggly flopper to stop using my bed as a litter? Help would be much appreciated!

Rabbits like to pee in beds and sofas etc. The best thing is really to block her acess to the bed. I did that with my bun who peed in the sofa. Then I had him neutered, but by then he’d already forgot about the sofa and I could unblock it. Now several months later he can come up for cuddling if I offer him a treat, but he doesn’t pee or poop and he doesn’t go up there unless I’m there.
Problems with beds are they are soft and smell intensely of you. Both those things entice a rabbit to mark the place.

Frank Jr used to snuggle in my bed with me.  It wasn’t his favorite thing, but he would occasionally hop up.  He liked burrowing but he never marked (after he was fixed, anyway).  I bought a new bed a few months ago.  It is all natural materials and organic.  It has a wool cover and a wool comforter.  He cannot be on it for 5 seconds without marking.  I think that it smells like sheep (which it does, failntly) to him and he feels like he really has to mark up his territory and that he doesn’t like me sleeping with these sheep!

If I sleep in too late for him, which is not THAT late, he will jump up and sniff my nose which gets me out of bed QUICK so that he won’t pee on it.  He’s home alone in my bedroom all day and never gets up on the bed.

I have noticed that he really prefers snuggling on the floor anyway.  He will sit in a chair with me as long as I am constantly petting him, but as soon as I stop, he hops to the ground and then starts bumping my leg to get more nose scratches.

My bunny Belle used to do this ALL THE TIME!! It was so frustrating. She used to do it particularly when I had someone over or someone had been sitting on my bed. Is your bunny still young? Belle only did it when she was younger. The way I got her to stop was by making a loud noise and chasing her back to her cage when she did it (and not letting her out again for 30 mins to an hour). Sometimes I’d even pick her up because she didn’t like it. Eventually (after a month or two, possibly three) she stopped doing it, I figure she started associating peeing on the bed with things she didn’t like. Now she sits on my bed with me all the time quite the thing. Also make sure you wash the sheets every time your bunny does it and I used to spray the spot with perfume as well just to make sure no smell lingered on the mattress or anything. That’s all I can suggest, patience for me was the key. Good luck!

Hi, welcome! I have a boy bun named Marley, too. =D

Two of my bunnies like to pee on my bed and the other likes to destroy blankets. I do not let my rabbits on the bed anymore. It’s too comfy for them and they want to make it theirs. If you don’t mind washing blankets and sheets then you may be able to put a plastic thing under the sheet so the pee doesn’t seep into the mattress. This might help, but I do not know how to deter a rabbit from peeing on beds.

Just a little background Marley is a little over three years old and spayed. Before this incident, she had impeccable litter habits. Once or twice a week I would find a dropping out of the litter box but for the most part she’s perfect.

For a temporary solution, I’ve put a plastic shower lining curtain over my bed. I figure it’s not very comfortable to pee on and it might be a deterrent. She’s still pooping on it but not as much! I’ve also been clapping loudly whenever she leaves a dropping. My goal is to have her be able to come into the bed without this. She just started using her litter again too so I’ve been petting her while she’s in it and rewarding her with treats. Fingers crossed it works.

Hi, I know this forum is a couple of years old but I saw a really handy tip and wanted to share it with others. My rabbit, Bun, is around 8 months old and he constantly jumps onto the bed and wees, last night I trialed putting aluminium foil on the side that he’s been weeing on and he jumped up once, landed on the foil and ran straight off. He still hasn’t tried to jump on that side of the bed, I strongly suggest you try it!
