help please, diarrhea?? soft mooshy poop

Okay, I have never had to deal with this cause Winnie has never had this problem

Yesterday, I was given Winnie some apple, i also gave Josiah the smallest piece ever, and shouldnt have…I know better i dont know why I did it :,( hes to young. he started pooping mooshy soft poops, they almost look like cecals cause their all stuck together. but their not because he pooped alot of them, i watched him all day yesterday and they just kept coming out. he was playing fine all day yesterday, eating and drinking normally too. I gave him some baby simithicone just in case and it helped out. His poops returned to normal for the night. I woke up this morning and they are back to being mooshy, he is still eating and drinking fine and playing alot. he acts like there is nothing wrong with him. his belly feels fine too, its not bloated or weird feeling..

his diet..unlimited Alfalfa free timothy pellets(kaytee), unlimtid timothy hay and some alfalfa hay(since hes only 3 months old).

i will be calling the vet tomorrow. idk what to do? im so upset, i should not have given him that teeny tiny apple piece, i know better then to do that. i feel like if it was the apple piece, he wouldnt have mooshy poop,today. I could be very wrong though  

please.. any advice?   attached below is a picture of his litter box this morning..

There are “normal” round poop as well as the mushy poop, and that is how you distinguish true diarrhea from ISC, intermittent soft cecotropes aka sticky poop.
Sticky poop’s means a bit of tummy upset, most likely from the apple. Sticky poop is NOT an emergency. You deal with it by encouraging the bun to eat more grass hay. You can cut back a tiny bit on the pellets and alfalfa to achieve that.

It’s not uncommon in young buns, their GI microbiota isn’t fully diversified and can’t break down “new” food very well.

True diarrhea in a young bun is serious and needs emergency vet care. You don’t see any round poop at all, just runny stools, often watery or mucosy. This is not caused by diet, it’s about a parasite (coccidia) or bad bacteria. Antibiotics and fluid therapy are needed.

Bam thanks so much for replying! do you think his poops look alarming?
i will give him less pellets and less alfalfa to see if it helps at all

I agree with Bam. One of my buns had recurrent sticky poops that looked just like yours when he was young due to free feeding of pellets. It would increase if I fed him greens. As soon as he hit 6 months, I cut back on pellets and rarely see the sticky poops at all.

Oh, okay. i feel a little better now. his poop is normal now. its just on and off, I cut back on the pellets for him and gave him more timothy hay. Would it be wise to give him simithicone every now and then or no?

Simethicone won’t harm him, it isn’t absorbed by the body. I doubt it’d make much difference though. It’s for gas and potentially helps a “slow” gut, and Josiah doesn’t appear to have either. But if it makes you feel safer you can give it once a day or every other day. A little bit of gas can happen with any tummy upset.

I don’t think the poops look alarming at all. Just soft. Nothing that extra hay won’t fix.
