Hi All,
Thank you in advance for your help and ideas.
I have a Florida White named Charles that just turned three. Over the weekend we took two car trips with Charles both about an hour and a half in length. He is great in the car but afterwords usually spends a day or two pretty tired. The second day though he usually seems to be doing better.
Right before this car trip, he unfortunately broke a nail and had some bleeding. It doesnt seem to be bothering him now, as he is able to walk, hop and jump without any signs of pain. After getting back to our house, he has been lethargic as normal and seems to rest. His other behaviors are normal, he is very friendly with me and eagerly wants to be pet.
The strangeness has come in that he doesnt seem to be eating much or any of his pellets or hay. He has been drinking seemingly normally. While it could be from the car trip, he usually is eating more by the second day, but has yet to do so. I tried to feed him hay and pellets by hand, and while he grabbed the hay with his mouth, he did not actually eat it, he just bit it in two.
Lastly I tried to give him some leafy greens afterwards, and he devoured them quickly. He ate them without a problem and ate all of the greens I gave him.
Do you think this is anything to be concerned about, given his circumstances, or would I be okay waiting a couple days to see if everything improves before seeking out a vet. I can feed him more greens, but my ultimate goal is to get him munching on hay again.
Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
