        Hi,

I’m on vacation and the sitter said my rabbit ate foam from her play mat. She ate about a square inch. Will she be okay??!

She may be okay…Ask your sitter to make sure she’s pooping, urinating, eating, and drinking normally. They foam could possibly cause GI stasis, which is where the gastrointestinal tract gets clogged. This is a very serious condition that would need to be looked at by a vet immediately. If she’s pooping and drinking normally, she should be fine!

            I agree with MiniRexMN.

Agree with the others. Bunnies can sometimes eat some crazy stuff and be fine and, at other times, be very sensitive. Make sure the sitter removes access to the mat. Keep us posted.

                Hi all,

I wanted to update you on my rabbit. I just returned home yesterday and she is doing fine. Eating, behaving, and digesting as normal as far as I can tell. I haven’t seen any of the foam in her poop though.

Rabbits a very good at chewing whatever they eat thouroughy. They never swallow big pieces of stuff like dogs and cats do, because the passage between the rabbit esophagus and stomach is very narrow. So the foam is most likely coming out in minute pieces embedded in the poop.

My Peanut has eaten a little plastic on occasion and I never saw evidence of it in his poop. They really do chew well!
