Hi guys! I need help picking a new name for my bunny.
No guarantees I’ll pick something you guys thought of or like… but I want to know your ideas for sure!
Here are some things:
Here are my ideas so far (behindthename.com is good for lookups):
Loup
Enzo
Dewey
Wyn
Thank you!

Out of the four you listed, I like Enzo and Dewey. They both look like they woud ‘fit’ him. Names are so hard!
What a handsome bunny!
The only French name I can think of is Pepe La Pew- the Warner Brothers skunk that was always trying to woo the black cat- Fabette.
hmmm… I like the names Jynx, Disney and Sherlock.
You will have to let us know what is personality is like. If he is curious- he could be Columbus- the explorer, etc.
How about Hochelaga. Hoch for short. It was the original name for Montreal.
Crayon, that’s really cool! However I don’t think it’s very nice sounding… got anything on that same track?
KatnipCrazy, I WOULD wait to name him until after I get him, but since he’s coming so far I want them to know his real name and stuff when I go to get him. Also, he’s going to have to stay with an acquaintance until I move into my apartment in September so I feel like naming him will make me feel better about letting him be distanced from me for the month.
how about Ezra?just say it like it looks. i always thought it was a cool name. or Wren or Pfieffer.
Ezra’s nice and jewy… but I know people named that so I can’t call my bunny it!
Wren I love. I’ll have to add it to my list… I’m just concerned it’s too girly.
..or Jeannot Lapin meaning bunny rabbit in french. Or just one of the two.
I like Wren! In a book I read there was someone called Renn.
How about Granite?
It’s not French, but what about one of the authors of your favorite listed songs: Sebastian
It has a lot of history too. It is a very old name.
I also like Leon, which is off of Leo the Lion. A derivative of it is Napoleon. While not being truly ‘French’, everyone thinks of France when it is heard.
I love the name Emile, which is the name of a French author I like. On that note, you could name him after one of the great French writers, such as Dumas (the Three Musketeers), or Hugo (The Hunchback of Notre Dame).
well he is beautifull, I forgot to say so already. The coolest rabbit coloring I’ve seen! It reminds me of stipple art.. which is images made by dotting or dabbing.
So that made me think of Dabney. Which is pretty cute sounding.
He looks very sophisticated, so in my eyes he needs to have a orchestral composer name!
Mozart
Rossini
Hindemith
Shostakovich
Stravinsky
Gustav Holst
Debussy
lol I actually know a rabbit named Chopin!
if I named him mozart I could call him Mo.
I am bored so I keep coming up with names for you! haha. ok so there is..
Iroquois, which are the natives to montreal, and you could call him Iro or Irie for short. (like the lake)
Wampum, Is what the Iroquois used as currency as well as for other things..
it is polished beads made of shell usually strung together. it sounds totally cute too!
I actually have an Indian great (maybe 2greats? don’t think so but unsure) grandmother, my papa’s mom (or possible grandma)….. my mom says her name was Lelia (my cousin was then named after her). Also think she was Iroquois. Have some sort of cousins who are Cherokee, but we have no blood relation. Iro’s kind of cool =)
I also have family that came over on the mayflower on my mom’s side, and on my dad’s side a battle was fought (battle of the cloud) on my g-g-g-ggrandpa’s property. It was during the Revolutionary War. My ggggg grandpa then sued the British because they stole his fenceposts and indentured his sons. The kids later got arrested at their own Pub for starting a brawl =P
Mo would be cute for short of Mozart. AWww he’s just so cute!
He has a very unique color pattern just beautiful.
Jewy names I am sure there are websites to find with jewish names search. Wow congrats on your new bunny. YOu will have to keep us updated on this gorgeous fellow. OH september so close yet so far. Must be hard for you to wait. It would be for me.
I’m stressing out about it now =( I told my boyfriend and he was like “why don’t you just wait until you know what you’re doing?” And he’s RIGHT! I just don’t want to =(
Only have something to offer on the french theme and his coat apperance – Monet (as in claude monet/impressionist painter).
oh my god. jersey that’s BRILLIANT. Mo. As in Monet… as in, you are amazing. That is now at the top of the list.
I’m still stressing. every time I want to do something slightly life-changing I have a cow, thinking I’m being irresponsible.
Ha! I didn’t even think of the shortned version “Mo” when thinking Monet. That could work. You’re going to have so many options it’s just going to mean a harder decision… What are you stressing about? Getting the bunny from Montreal? (Edit: Oh I see ^ . You haven’t been irresponsible IMO> You’ve been researching bunny care and been waiting for some time.)
Ooh – another lil connection Mo (Montreal) and Mo(e) from Larry, Curly and Moe, Three Stooges who were Jewish (I think). And rexes do have those curly whiskers….*rolls eyes*
oh yeah! see it’s so perfect.
I’m stressing because I don’t have a place to keep him yet and while I’ve found several places where I can keep him safely until September 1, I don’t even have an apartment yet… And I’m doubting myself. When I was little I had a friend who used to always bring home animals her parents said no to. She eventually had a menagerie and her parents didn’t know what to do about her. Now she’s married (did it secretly), to someone who got kicked out of the army, with a 1 year old son and a new baby on the way. Her parents pay her bills and basically pulled her through high school and paid teachers to let her do the necessary community service, paying for her lpn courses when she finally decided to do it and babying her through the whole thing. And she’s still got lots of pets. But now she’s moved on to collecting kids, it looks like. I’m afraid of being like her, maybe…
I dont see that happening. Are you in the process of looking?
Your too hard on yourself! You mentioned this girl before. I see major difference (from the little I know – lol). 1) her parents enable her, and 2) she probably doesn’t have a strong sense of responsibility that you appear to have. The fact you identified her upbringing & current situation is not what you consider ideal nor a life that you want for yourself makes you so different to her. Again, I’m a bit foolish to say all I’ve said as I really don’t know either of you….blah, blah, blah….
I did the same thing with my bunny. My parents will be mad for the next few weeks and get over it. Just show your mom how cute he is. That ALWAYS works here. I am the master of sneaking animals in all my life. This is what happens: Dad is furious!!! Threatens all these terrible things (like taking away my bed and driving around with it in the pickup truck until I rehome the animal..LOL?!) Right dad..good one. Then…Mom see’s the new pet and falls in love, and sure dad is mad for the next month or two…but it all works out in the end. I have done this with, 1 dog, 2 cats, 3 chinchillas, 80 gallon aquarium, 3 guinea pigs, and now the rabbit. Well…the 80 gallon aquarium didn’t exactly sneak it’s way into the house…I’m still not sure how I got away with that. Man I put my parents through a lot
At least its not drugs or being preggers…just pets :p So ….I am sure you can get away with it too! She has to fall in love with that bunny as soon as she see’s him!
My mom already said I couldn’t bring it here…. i’d have someone watch it until I moved. This is all my boyfriend’s fault! I wouldn’t be questioning any of this if he hadn’t suggested it wasn’t the best idea.
Really I am sure it will all fall into place. You seem to be very responsible and rescued, and you are even on rabbit forums and seem extremely excited about getting him! Even if your living situation is a little crazy at first, I bet you will figure it all out once you get him in your arms.
come on, sibley, you will find way to deal with it. i often get someone to babysitter my pets, and do the same job for others. you’ve mentioned a date, september 1. I think that won’t be too difficult to find a place temporarily for Mo, if it’s the date when you would set up a permanant home for him. everything would be ok, and i just can’t wait to see Mo’s pics ![]()
by the way, Mo is a great name. i always get hard time to give name. i would call my next bun Lancy Jr., or, Alphabet ![]()
I wonder if there is a website for unusual names. I like the unusual. You wouldn’t know it by my buns names unfortunately.
Jewy names I am sure there is a search site for that.
Happy hunting. Naming can be so hard.
My husband is French, his name is Etienne.
His father’s name was Andre’.
He has a nephew named Antoine.
His brother is Olivier not pronounced Oliver.
We have a friend from France named Pascal.
He’s quite unusual looking. I also like the name Pierre.
i read the pretty little liars series and there was a guy named wren.
Have you ruled out Sebastian? I love that name!
Well I hope it all goes well, you never know, I might drive over and confiscate him before you even see him Mwahaha! But that means no more problems for you!
I think that is disappointing that your parents don’t want a cute little bunny living in the house, my parents don’t have a problem. I am sure that it will all work out! Also as soon as you have a bunny you will be on the forums more often, yay!
Mo? I like that name, have you read Inkheart? someone in there is called Mo.
oh Sibley! You are being too hard on yourself. You have been wanting this particular kind of rabbit for a long time, it’s not that you just got him on a whim. Plus, from your postings I am pretty sure you’re more the planning kind of gal!
Already you have several places for your bunny to stay. That’s thinking ahead if you ask me. In a way, it’s a good time for you to have found your rabbit now because after September you will be busier and this gives you plenty of time to spend with him in the interim. If you’re looking for a place now you’ll have one by Sept.1st.
BTW, Sarita’s ‘Etienne’ is my favorite so far… and my dog’s name is Enzo, too!
— think about names, don’t question yourself any longer. There is much to prepare after all, bunny is coming… ![]()
Ok I am drooling jealousy over here! Such an adorable bunny!!!!
I suck at names but I like the names I have seen listed Monet and Dewey
I like Sebastian but my cousins have a cat named that =P He’s a really cool cat actually. And Etienne is very nice =)
Well I’m totally new on her, but I love the naming process and wanted to throw in a few!
Firstly, LOVE Sebastian. I think it suits him. Forget about your cousins cat! Otherwise: Plato, Xerxes (zercks-eeze) or Boaz (Bo-ahs, means ‘swiftness’ in hebrew). My boy bun’s name is Marmaduke, though I call him Duke or Dukas.
I have bad news…
I think I decided not to get him =(
I called them today and told them since he was due to be neutered and I figured that could wait now. I really want him, but I’m not sure what my lifestyle will be like this year… I don’t want to get him and then have him home alone most of the time because I’m spending the night at my boyfriend’s or going into work at night (I can do that apparently) or something. =/
Aww
I’m sorry to hear that. If you do decide not to get him, there will be more bunnies needing to be adopted when the time is right for you. <3
Yeah =( I really wanted him! But I feel like it’s not a good decision since this year’s schedule will be so different from anything in the past so I really have no idea…. Oh poor cute little French bunny =( I told them to email me when he gets adopted. So I can change my mind until then.
And in my apartment search I’m checking if they allow rabbits.
Sigh.
I’m sorry, I know you were strugglng with this. I’m glad you’ve asked to keep informed about him. Maybe in a few months time thing will have settled and you can look into it again.
I’m sorry, sibley.
I know how that is – when I joined BB my Spockie had just died the month before and I was job hunting. That was January 2008. I had to give up my apartment and stay with my parents from May through mid-November when I got a new job that finally worked out to be permanent full time. I couldn’t get a bunny again until I was secure about work and found an apartment again. The members here waited with me while we chatted about all their buns. There was much celebrating online when I found Sammykins, and when I was able to bring her home. After having a beloved bunny for 8 years, it was so hard not to have one!
A bunny who belongs to you will appear when you are ready for it. Stay online with us in the meantime if you need a “bunny fix”. Stories and pix of the others really makes you feel connected.
=) Thanks guys
Pam, you’re like… my mentor or something. Job advice, pet advice… got any thoughts on whether I should go to grad school across the country next year or wait one more year to stay close to my bf while he finishes school?
And bunny will probably be adopted fast, but if he’s still there when I’ve moved in I’ll be able to consider getting him in a less-scared way since I’ll have an idea of my lifestyle. I’m going to look at apts this weekend with my new potential-roommate. The one we want is 2000 sq ft and will cost us less than $500 each a month including all…. if we go visit it and decide to put in a deposit on it and it seems like it would fit a rabbit too freaking well I might have to email Canada and demand my bunny back.
Aw, sibley.
I usually have advice on any subject, anytime. Which is why they made it official and made me a Forum Leader. LOL
Is your BF saying he’ll move with you after he graduates to wherever you want to go to grad school?
Oooh Pam! You should be careful about encouraging me… I get wordy.
We haven’t discussed it… it’s a long way off. I think that if it were the case that we were both moving right now we would move to the same city if we could, and most likely move in together. He was thinking about transferring to Chicago and I was stressing about being unemployed and having to move home and he said I could go to Chicago with him (he’s not transferring after all though). We’ve talked about moving in together, which we may do if he doesn’t have 9am classes next semester. Actually his mom suggested that first. Because he tried to get his mom to get a rabbit, and then told her how my mom wouldn’t let me have one at home either. And then she said we should live together and get one. And then I grinned and nodded, and he told his mom I liked that idea. It was actually really very convenient since because she brought it up for a silly purpose we never had to have “a talk.” That was kind of a story, so… the end!
The city I want to go to law school in right now he also really likes. I actually decided on that school after we went to San Fran for spring break and we both stepped into the city and actually said “wow” as soon as we got off the train. We’ve talked about how it would be nice to live there, not in relation to our future. We’ve also talked about other places we’d both like to live.
He’s been included in my apartment search, at the very least so it’ll be a place he wants to visit and a place that’s easy to get to from campus.
But basically, way too far in the future to discuss. Depends on a lot of other factors.
