Help. Bunny keeps thumping.

Hi,

so this morning I woke up as usual to let the bunny out to roam and refilled her hay and water. Everything was going normal, I was going back to sleep for a couple minutes then all of the sudden she thumped. I thought it was weird and looked around to see if something was bothering her, or what was up. She then was thumping very quickly one right after the other. So i sit down and pet her, try to give her a couple treats to calm her down, which she happily took. Then as we were sitting there hanging out she thumped and ran back into her cage like something scared her and she then started thumping in there. I was looking on another thread and it said I could cover her crate to see if that helps calm her down so I did. Her thumps are definitely less frequent, but are still happening. What do i do? she’s never done this before.

It sounds like something scared her (ie. loud or new noise; scent) and she thinks the “threat” is still present. Continue sitting by her if it helps her calm down. Does she have a hideout in her cage that she can go into?

Could be something she heard or smelt from outside. My get spooked occasionally and I’ve given up trying to find the reasoning lol remember bunnies have very sensitive ears and noses so they can sense things we can’t.

yeah that’s what I was thinking. she calmed down a little bit, and by the time i had to leave for work she was fine and just hanging out in her cage. I think covering it really helped.
