Help, advice, anything please

Hi, I am looking for any kind of Tips, help, advice….bunny therapist lol. My bunny, Loki, is 1 year old i have had him since he was 2 months old. He has been cage free since september, he stays mostly in my room i have a gate to keep him in but if i’m home or someone else is home we let him have the run of the house and he loves it.  he has been great with his litter training he has his go-to spot in my room and he even goes into the bathroom to go 😛 ;However recently we have been having some issues with his littler habits. About a month ago i had to spend the night at a place close to my job, due to crazy chef hours. And it was the first time i have ever spent that much time away from Loki. When i came home i saw that he had peed all over my bed. He had only done that a few times when i began training him way before he was cage free, and i found that it helped to just move my bed to the other side of the room. Since then he had never peed on my bed actually he would sleep in bed with me. I’ve also noticed that he only does it when either I’m not home or if he is locked into my room. this past weekend i was home all weekend and the gate to my room was left open from friday night to sunday night and not once did he pee on my bed. BUT, i went to work today, i come home and he has peed literally all over my bed. I keep one of those mattress covers on my bed over my blankets and pillows for “just in case”. I have a crate for him that i put him in when i catch him peeing on the bed, i put him in for 20mins then let him out, i also praise him and give him a treat when i catch him going where he should be. My question is, could he have separation anxiety from me, and peeing on my bed is his ‘revenge’ for me leaving? and How do i fix this? it’s a bit frustrating because he has had no problems with his litter habits up until now.

Hormones could definitely be a factor then. He is likely marking these areas that smell like you in your absence.

I just wanna put this out there, NO animal pees somewhere you don’t like for revenge. animals don’t have the capability to think that way. I would also say it’s hormones and probably have him neutered

BEFORE being neutered – when I got out of bed for the day I never gave Henry going back ‘on’ my bed till bed time a second thought (just thought he slept ‘under’ my bed?) TILL…. I changed my beige coloured sheets a few days later and saw the ‘dry’ yellow pee stain on my white mattress protector – I slept in bunny pee for 3 days and didn’t even know it! I was home so it wasn’t payback for anything (though I wondered how he’d like it if I pee’d where he slept? NOW that’s payback! LOL!). I just put it down to his hormones/marking his territory (so restrained myself from going crook at him). Once he was neutered he did wee on my bed once and within no time I never worried about him weeing anywhere other than his toilet since. Henry is now the perfect bed partner, except when he nibbles on/eats my clothes (while I am sleeping in them), climbs over my head to get to my bedside table to get to the goodies he’s not allowed to touch, or just simply wakes me at 3/4am cause he’s awake and thinks I should be toooo. Sorry – did I say he’s the perfect bed partner? NO he’s NOT! But he doesn’t wee on my bed anymore – that’s good enough for ME! Lol…. Cheers.

LOL andhenry that doesn’t sound like a perfect bed partner at all but at least he doesn’t pee anymore. Caleb has peed on our bed 2/3 times and unfortunately he no longer gets to go on the bed anymore. I’m not sure if he’ll do it now that he’s fixed and his litter habits are impeccable but I’m not going to chance it.

thanks for the advice. just wondering but about how much does it cost to get him neutured? this way i can really start saving, i have some put aside but i doubt it’s enough.

Depends on where you live. I’ve heard of everything between $80 and $500. I think it is $125 at my vet. Do you know of a rabbit or exotic vet that you would like to use? You can call to get a price.
