Hi everyone!  I just wanted to introduce myself and my new bun.  I have been reading lots of posts and now my bunny is here so I get to share too!

I just adopted my new bunny from the MSPCA in Methuen, MA.  I used to own and foster house rabbits about five years ago but took a hiatus after my last guy passed away and I was moving around a lot.  Now my husband and I are settled in a house so I got to get another bunny!  I looked online a lot and visited a bunch of bunnies and finally found my new girl, She-ra.  I went to the shelter to meet her after seeing her online and I couldn’t find her so I thought she was adopted.  It turns out she was in the back in an office of one of the workers because she was being cage aggressive.  She had been there for over two months and was getting very grumpy.  I immediately fell in love with her and got to take her home that day.  She is a 3 1/2 year old spayed female and probably some kind of lionhead mix.  She has two tufts of hair that stick out under her ears.  She also has blue eyes which I think are really neat but aren’t showing up well in my pictures.

She is doing well in my set-up but is definitely territorial of her cage. Mostly I just wait for her to come out of her cage to do any re-arranging in there.  I love her personality.  She is sooo curious and very opinionated about “her” stuff.    I am trying to be patient as I have only had her since Friday and she is not quite ready to be petted yet.  My previous bunny loved getting his head rubbed so I am hoping she will come around and at least come up for petting occasionally.  I think she is happy though and likes her environment.  She is friends with my 7lb miniature pinscher mostly and they take turns going in and out of the “cat hole” I have in her cage.  I think she would like a tunnel like I have seen some of you have and am going to look into getting her one.  Right now she has a large x-pen set-up and access to the whole bedroom when I am home but I am hoping to give her more freedom out and about in the house in the future.  Luckily she has GREAT litter box habits so I think we are on the right track.

Thanks for this website.  It has been a great resource for me as I head into my new bunny adventure!

now you need to put some pictures on so we can get our warm and fuzzy on.

          welcome from my girls.

check out my profile and pictures, utube account.  I don’t buy anything I don’t have to I like to make things for my girls out of things so my bunny cribs are a little rustic looking but extreamly fuctional.

I am having trouble getting most of my pictures sized right but here are a couple and I will try to get some action shots later when I figure out how to size the pics from my better camera.

She definitely has rabbitude! I love it! It’s great you gave her a chance; a lot of these “grumpy” buns are just more opinionated and need a stable home with an understanding person. Which sounds like you!!!! YAY!!! I’m so happy you had the chance to get another bun; they’re amazing companions and they bring so much joy to our lives. Welcome to BB, too! We love having new members who love buns as much as we do!

Okay, so I opened up her pen today and allowed her access to 90% of the room. She had SOOO much fun jumping on and off the bed, racing around, and doing binkies! It was hysterical. I hope this means she is getting more comfortable and is happy. While on the bed she kept burrowing under the covers. It was super cute but I think she would like something in her pen that she can burrow in to. Any ideas? Would I just get a long tunnel and maybe stuff it with some towels or something? Thanks for the welcome. She is so much fun

Hi welcome to BB It’s so great that you fostered in the past and now chose to adopt a bunny!

She is so adorable and pretty! I like her markings and the little tufts of fur around her ears. Definitely showing rabbititude here. Yup, if she’s binkying and running around she is definitely getting comfortable and is happy. Hmm well I give my bunnies some fleece blankets and they love burrowing and making little tunnels. Tunnels are great too.

I use an overturned laundry basket with a hole cut into it as a sort of “den” for my bun, with blankets inside. She is always in there digging and smoothing out the blanket! It’s a nice hiding spot for her too. I also put a towel on top of the overturned basket so she can jump on top of it and have better footing.

What about the same box with corn starch peanuts? Is that safe if they chew them a little?
