        Hey there. :]
I’m new here, but I’ve been lurking a while, actually, before I made an account. It’s just so friendly and informative here. <3
        Ponyo is quite a character, so I thought it’d be good to join a forum of bunnylovers, not just for advice but to have someone to talk to about him who doesn’t just go “Uhh… Cool?” xD;

Anyway, Ponyo is a mini lop (A rather big one, too), and I became his human about 3 months ago, when he was 9 weeks old. Haha.
He’s recently started trying to sex me up, which isn’t great but he’s getting his op on the 19th so hopefully I won’t have too many toothmarks by then.

I look forward to meeting you all (and the bunnies that call you their humans). :]

PinPon having a rest on his carpetmats after circling me a bajillion times –

Hello and welcome! We love bunny stories here, so keep them coming. And more pictures as well, please!

He has such a beautiful colouring. I think it is the first I have seen. Pretty boy How much does he weigh?

I just managed to delete my whole post! Durrh, silly me.

At his last vet visit he was at about 3lbs, he’s grown this month though so I really should check him again.
His little ears are all grey at the back because he is a dribbly diver (he gets upset in the car unless I hold him on a towel rather than have him in slidy box, and dribbles a little. He’s not got tooth problems, we checked with the vet, he’s just silly when upset : < Awh) and grooms himself, getting his little feet wet and inking them up on the newspaper. He grooms it into his ears, so we've started lining it differently so he doesn't get an upset tummy and a little grey face.

I can’t for the life of me work out how to clean him up though. We figured leaving him to it would eventually get it off but he’s still a dulleared little thing. At least he likes going in the bath (when it’s empty and soggy). He hops on in and then can’t get back out, silly thing. Perhaps he’s too hot.

Are those your buns in your sig? They’re so lovely. :] What are they called?

OMG, he’s SO cute! I love his coloring too! He seems rather small for a mini lop, but that could just be me? My Holland lop is a little over 6 months now, and he weighs about 3.5 pounds. Their heads are similarly shaped, although I’d say yours is just a tad longer. (I actually prefer the look of mini lop heads over Holland lop heads, so I’m happy Edmund’s resembles a mini lop’s. I don’t like the “I just ran head first into a door and smashed my face” look. lol ;P)

I’m with Karla though. I’d love to see more pictures!

Awh, thank you. xD I can just feel his ego inflating.
He has grown a fair bit this month, but those photos are from today, so maybe he’ll be getting bigger still. Haha.
If that’s your holland lop in your avatar, he’s such a cutie, and Edmund is such a great bunny name. xD <3
Ponyo runs into things a lot, so I’m surprised he isn’t a bit squishier. : P Ha.
He gets over excited when he comes into the living room, and likes to wind around under the chairs.

Also, he’s got this new game. My room is carpeted, but no others in the apartment are, so if I leave my door open for him he runs as fast as he can out of the room, skids along the wooden hallway, then goes back and does it again and again. So funny. xD

                That poor box…
He loves that woven mat though. He goes through them so fast, but I’ve finally found somewhere that does them for about £2.50 rather than £7!

Did they vet check his molars as well? I’m only asking as I have never heard about bunnies drewling because they were upset, only because of dental issues. But one time has got to be the first, I guess. If there is really nothing physical wrong with him, then bless that little guy for being so unique

How come you need to clean him up? He should be able to clean himself.

Yes, the bunnies in my signature are mine  They are: Jack (lost him in April, but he is still dearly missed), Karl, Molly and Freddy. They are the sweetest beings, but no need to tell another bunny slave that, I guess. Don’t you just find the company of bunnies so relaxing? It’s better than meditation or anything else.

Oh yes, we had his molars checked too, and his ears, and a clipping etc. xD He ONLY ever does it when he’s in the car, and in the box, because he slides a little on turns. He does it less if I hold him on my lap though, but I still end up with little patches on my sleeves. Ha. We’re getting him a bunnybag soon though so he won’t find it so stressful. : <

And he cleans himself. All day. But he just can’t seem to get the grey off. I suppose as long as it doesn’t bother him in any way it’s fine by me though. :] Silly little thing.

Awh, what cuties! Jack has the sweetest litle face there, and wow but Karl is a fluffy guy, hehe. I love the markings on the other two as well, especially freddy. How pretty. :]

Bunny company is the most relaxing animal company I have experienced yet, except of course when I’m being tugged at by the trousers after some courting dances… That’s a little annoying sometimes. Haha.
My silly guy keeps trying to sit with me on my bed when I’m working though, and I would love so much for him to be able to, but he’s not allowed until he’s shown that he won’t pee on my pillows and quilt! We had a bit of a phase of that, which ended up with him sulking in his cage while I washed the sheets every day, so we revised the whole routine and just let him have more floor space and less bed space. He seems happier now, for sure, but he’s constantly leaping up, and having me squirt him/put him back down. : <
I’ve got to do some boundary training with him, I suppose, as nothing will stop him! He’s a real high-jumper, is Ponyo, so if he wants out, in, or up, he will certainly get it (For a second, at least!).

How old are your buns? Did you get them from breeders and did you have good experiences with them? :] Ponyo came from a breeder, and I can’t help but wonder if he misses his bunny buddies in the outdoor pen. I’ve been thining about a friend for him when I have a bigger place. I’d feel a lot less bad about working so much on things then, for sure, and wonder if it’d be good for him. He seems absolutely fine with just my little old self and some visitors though, so for now I don’t worry too much. :]

I took him out for a run on his harness a little while ago, and he loved it, but I think until we’ve mastered “C’mere!” a bit better we’ll just have to bunproof my balcony! He can stand up all tall and beg for sultanas when you say “Up”, but I think I’ll need seperate treats for each trick, as he seems to think “Up” means sultana time, and not the action it’self. Haha.
                    He loves Nature Cookies, by Vitakraft, though, but they’re not really an everyday treat. xD;

Haha, well, I can reassure you that one he has been neutered, all your worries will stop. He will stop peeing in the bed and circling your legs and all the other annoying stuff. Just make sure that he is not allowed unto the bed for at least 3-4 weeks after the neuter, because most bunnies get even worse right after the neuter because of all the hormones going crazy

Karl and Freddy are both from the same shelter, and Molly and Jack are from private homes from families who for one reason or the other wanted to give them up. I didn’t get any of them at the same time. They are between 1 and 4 years old. Jack was my cuddly senior. He was about 5+ when I got him.

I do recommend that you get another bunny down the road to keep  Ponyo company, but no rush now. However, bunnies are very social creatures and they are so much fun to watch together with another bunny, and once you see them together you will understand what a big difference it does to their lives to have company. But no rush. Enjoy his company until you are ready to get another.

I took him out for a run on his harness a little while ago, and he loved it, but I think until we’ve mastered “C’mere!” a bit better we’ll just have to bunproof my balcony! Hehe, sounds like fun. Molly does the same with her raisins. I taught Karl to come by handfeeding him his treats and say “Karl, come” every time, he got one. He actually learned it really quickly! However, I’m not sure it would work outside, because outdoors is just so much fun that not even the best treats can get the bunnies to want to come inside You know, you can clicker train him as well? We have members in here who has done quite a bit of clicker training with their bunnies.

Ohh yes, I heard about the hormone peaking in the month after. I’m sure we can come to some agreement until then though. It will probably be “Don’t read in bed! Read down here with me! Let me lick your knees FOREVER!”
He is a real knee licker with me.

He’s a bit of an opposite bunny, too. From everything I’d read until I got him, it implied they usually like cheek rubbings, and hate butt pettings, but he’s the other way around! He loves a good ruffle down his back, but only enjoys a cheek rub now and then when he’s real sleepy.

What a nice selection of buns you have, by the sounds of things. Did they get on well with each other when you introduced them?
How have you found older buns? I guess they’re a lot less… well, maybe not less naughty or enrgetic, but I’m guessing they’re more mild mannered. Haha.

I was always tempted by a family pair when we were at the breeders the first couple of times, but I ended up deciding that with the space I have, the lifestyle and the presence of flatmates, I was better suited to accomodate the one to start with.
                          Also, this being my first full time bunslavery, I figured I’d be best learning the personality and little quirks and care schdule of the one, so that I can concentrate on him better, and not overwhelm myself. xD;
He will certainly have a friend in the future though. Maybe another mini lop, but I hear they get on well with little rexes and dwarfs and the like equally.

Oh, he ignores my call most of the time anyway, unless he’s expecting something yummy of me. No matter what I do, he doesn’t come to me unless I have something for him and he’s not doing anything else. xD At all.  Hopefully we can work on it with handysnacks.

Clicker training is so cool! I’ve seen so many videos of it. Somehow I can’t see Ponyo taking to it, but it’s something to look into trying out, for sure. xD I’m so impressed by people who can clicker train their buns (or rather, whose buns have trained them to give them clicks and treats when they do funny things : P ). Hehe.

Bonding bunnies isn’t always easy but it can be done when the time is right. I think you’re making a good decision to enjoy him for awhile first, before deciding on a second. We waited almost a year after getting Meadow to get Max, and it was nice to have that one on one bonding time with her!

There is a huge difference between teenagers and adults . I love the energy in teenagers and the whole craziness around them. But as much as I love watching a teenager go crazy, I think I love just sitting quietly on the floor with my bunnies and just petting and kissing them a bit more  Adult bunnies are much more calm, although they still do binkies and 500’s, but just not as much as a teenager would. Well, at least mine don’t. They just want kisses and cardboard boxes

And yes, I’m sure Ponyo will love the Maze Haven! What bunny doesn’t?  Just don’t expect to see your bunny once you order it hehe.

By the way, how did you come up with the name Ponyo? It is very unusual.

Well, it started with Ponyo being a japanese onamatapeic word for “Soft and squishy”, and then I saw the Ghibli movie “Ponyo on the cliff by the sea” *Loves Ghibli* and Ponyo is a pale little thing with orange hair. : P

There were a lot of names we had prepared, but when I saw him, none of them fit, and all of a sudden, one day, I said “I can’t wait to bring Ponyo home” and it was decided that it was just right. xD Haha.

I can’t wait for the box maze to be back in stock! x]
And older bunnies sound just as lovely as younger ones. :]

OMG, please, please, please say this happens to my Edmund when he gets older! I would LOVE to just be able to snuggle with him on the floor.  Right now, he’s so curious and excited all the time that he can’t seem to sit still for more than a few seconds…

Oh, and yes, Ahvo, my avatar is a picture of Edmund. Thank you for the compliment.

May I please have Ponyo? Haha, he’s so cute though. I love mini lops, especially ones as cute as yours. I’m like you about getting another bunny. It more than likely will happen eventually, but I’m in no hurry at the moment to add another one to the family. I like being able to focus solely on one bun.

I like that Ponyo has such a meaning – and yes Ponyo does look soft and squishy  Do you have any connections to Japan?

Welcome to you and Ponyo. That’s a lovely close up of him at the top!

Regarding the maze haven, I believe the store at this site only ships within the US and to Canada. If you’re in the UK (you mentioned Pounds…) you can get Maze Haven thru http://www.thehayexperts.co.uk (not sure about mini maze though).

Ah, thank you so much. : D Shame about the shipping but at least I can find it still. :]
It’s certainly more expensive on there though. xD At £29.99 it’s double the price it is on here. Bawww.
I’ve been looking at an amazing new house for him too. I keep seeing houses for sale, they are so cute, and like little wooden cottages with a run under them, and two doors. I am so tempted to save a little and spoil him (and myself for the tidyness it’s probably bring) xD.
Or perhaps I should just wait for a move with a garden and get an even bogger one. :0
