› FORUM › THE LOUNGE › WELCOME ! › Hello mate! From livestock to bunny lord!!!
Hello! I finanlly decided to join the forums as I’ve read here quite frequently being a noobie to bunny ownership! I finally decided to get another pet after losing my beloved Maine Coon kitty. I am very happy with getting a bunny, a New Zealand one to be specific! He gives me something to care for and be happy everyday I wake up! My little fuzzy guys name is Cheech, he is 3 months old and not neutered. I had found Cheech on our local listings and I was really drawn by his neato broken/checkered white and brown coat! I had got him from a farmer who kinda chuckled when he asked what I intended to do with Cheech and I replied he would be my free range pet! Which is going great as he will usually hop over to his business box to well….handle that risky business! Cheech was very jumpy the first few days since he was being raised as live stock or so I believe and I didn’t like how the farmer told me how to hold him and held him by the scruff of the neck and the poor little guy looked scared to death! The car ride home I sat there and discovered little big man had a weakness for being pet behind the ears! Then the bonding began! Over the next few days he explored a bunch in the house (supervised and bunny proofed area no cords!) now he will occasionally run up to me and lick me! Plus he lays out all relaxed which I was very happy to see. After all this you might go whoa this guy has had him for a while but it’s only been 3 days!!! Anyways pictures, pictures, PICTURES!

So worth having as a pet rather then bringing to a table!
I attempted to help out with the image codes from your post but I didn’t have much luck.
Not sure how to get your photo’s to post correctly so I copied and pasted – what a beautiful rabbit!
Big Welcome to you and Cheech! ![]()
Welcome to BB!
I can’t see the photos, even if I copy and paste. ![]()
Try these LEL
Hello Cheburashka and congratuations on adopting your gorgeous bunny!!
Welcome to the forums!
For future photo posts, maybe try this code:
[ * IMG ] IMAGE URL GOES HERE [ * /IMG ] (without the spaces or *s)
That may work better!
Cheech looks like he’s not a full-blooded New Zealand — I’m wondering if that checkered pattern is coming from something mixed in, such as an English Spot, or some other kind of mix! Either way, he’s GORGEOUS and I’m sure he’s happy to have a home with you now!
Welcome again!
He’s a looker! Congrats to you both!
He is so cute!!!Welcome to binky bunny!![]()
He is gorgeous! Welcome to the rabbit community =D
Thank you all so much for the kind warm welcome!!!
GAHHH, I had assumed IMG code would imbed the image sorry about that!
He’s been adapting very very well, he is not longer skittish and will sit on people’s laps now.
More pictures to come!
Again thank you all! These New Zealand’s are somewhat rare where I am, most bunnies are mini-rex or lop. Not to mention I loved his colours!!!

Oh I see, you were trying to avoid embedding!
Sorry about that then! If you’re trying to just make links, you can use the “add link” button at the top of the text box — it’s the little earth symbol with the chain link and the plus sign. (Apologies if you know all this already!)
Welcome to the world of bunnies! ![]()

Also I’m so surprised how curious these little fuzzy guys are! My cat wasn’t even as curious as Cheech is, unless it was food!
It’s so awesome to watch him look around then plop over on his side and lay out. He does that a lot now and even runs up to me to get pet! So awesome!!! I think he might be mixed with a English Spot! (There was a few around here on local listings) one of Cheech’s sisters looked spot on to a English Spot with the black and white patches instead of orange/tan. Cheech’s mom is a 26lb pure New Zealand white and his dad was insane orange/tan black checkered New Zealand at 23lbs (supposedly) the farmer I got him from said the NZ buck was a pure one too. I looked it up on the internet and have seen supposed pure bread NZs in the crazy tricolor but I’m a bit lost in that. Once I get my actual camera and take pictures you’ll see his ears have black on the tips and outline and his eyes have some black fur around them too! It’s a really cool colour that I’ve never seen. Again could be the dad is a spot/NZ mix??? As I have no pedigree but he was too cute and amazing looking to not want and I didn’t want him to be a meat rabbit!!!
