Hello I’m new!

Hello I got my rabbit yesterday and I am so happy. I was a little worried because she was not eating but she is in a new environment. Last night I just watched her for a little bit before I went to bed and I saw her drink some water and have some hay and some pellets. Well a lot more hay than the pellets tho. She is like a month old. Before I got the bunny I been looking at this website everyday for 3 weeks and many other websites for research. I saw her binky a few times when she was out of the cage. She is slowly getting farther and farther away from her cage. Should I let her out of her cage that soon tho? She won’t let me pet her which I am fine with that I can just wait till she is comfortable with me even if its takes a year. Oh and where I got her they said she is a dwarf rex mix idk. I guess they were not sure.. Oh and I am also going to get her spayed when she is old enough. When should I start litter training with her?

Hi! If she is binkying and exploring, then it sounds like Princess Star is starting to settle in . For bonding with her, just try and spend as much time with her as you can. It doesn’t have to be physical interaction; it can be as simple as laying on the floor or sitting next to her cage and talking to her. As she gets more comfortable with you and her environment, she will let you pet her. Luna was already litter trained when I got her, but I think litter training can start right away.

Alright thank you I will spend a lot of time with her. When she started exploring she was moving around being cautious but then later started jumping around her cage.

Now she is starting to climb on me and she is running around more.

Welcome! You can seriously consider letting your rabbit explore outside its cage, as long as you’ve bunny-proofed the area. A lot of people express concerns about doing this before litterbox training, which is valid, but it’s never too soon to start litter box training! I started training Wick once I got him and it did stick. Unfortunately, it’s beginning to unravel as he’s getting closer to neutering time, but the months beforehand were much easier and less of a hassle since he’d go in his litterbox more so than not.
