Meet Dexter and Penny.
Dexter has lived at a rescue for most of his life and due to his plain coloring they were not optimistic of his being adopted any time soon. He is a year old and of mixed breed (New Zealand/Netherland Dwarf was the rescue’s guess).
Penny was surrendered by her previous owner. Her old owner did not enjoy doing things such as clipping nails (which were grotesquely long) and so she chose to ignore the chore. Penny is a Palomino and very shy. Her age is unknown.
We found them about a month ago at a truly awesome rescue and will be bringing them home on Sunday (OMG EXCITED!). We had them spayed/neutered and wanted to make sure they were healed before stressing them out with a move. We initially set out to adopt one rabbit but my husband and I were drawn to different buns and decided to bring both into our family. Our family is quite large and consists of two dogs and three cats. The buns will be the last additions for a good long time.
Dexter and Penny will have their own room (we had a spare) and will live in some lovely hutches my husband built for them. We eventually hope to bond them and give them free reign of their bedroom during the day.
Brown Dog = Zeus Tabby in the back = Mulder
Black/Brindle Dog = Ripley Squished tabby = Scully
Grey Squisher = Koopa
They seem so much sweeter when they sleep
We are first time rabbit owners and while the rescue has done a wonderful job directing us to learning resources and teaching us the basics (nail trimming, diet, habitat, ect…) we both look forward to learning much much more about these special new members of our family. I’m glad to have found this forum!
More bunny pics to come when we get them home! Until then, this is a cat in a box.
