Meet Clover, my nearly 3 month old Flemish Giant. He’s very new to me and my house – my first rabbit companion! I have done lots of research, and I have experience with rabbits as I’m an animal keeper at a zoo (we have four Flemish), so I think he’ll have a good home here.
I brought him home yesterday. He’s still shy and cautious, not fond yet of being touched around the face. He doesn’t mind his rump and tail being pet, so sometimes I’ll sneak a stroke there. I’m really pleased that he’s opened up as much as he has; yesterday he layed outside of his cage (where I permit myself to bug him) and allowed me to give him gentle strokes on his head, face, behind his ears. I think it’s super promising!
So far he’s tried to tear up my carpet a little. I usually respond with a sharp “AY!” and a clap, and if he continues, I move him from the area and present a chewable toy. It works okay, but I don’t trust him for a second without me around.

Here’s his cage setup! He gets a bunny-proofed play space when I’m home to supervise. Once he’s neutered, litter trained, and the rest of my apartment is safely set up, he’ll get the whole place.
