I just wanted to introduce myself and my little bun! I recently adopted this little dude. I was told he is a 1.5-2 year old dwarf Hotot possibly with a lionhead. He looks very much like a dwarf hotot, if not a little on the large side. I would love to hear opinions on his cross!
I don’t think he ever got a whole lots of veggies/greens or time out of his cage, but he is really coming around. I have slowly introduced him to my cats and he gets along famously with my older cat. I am still keeping the younger cat on the other side of a gate for now, just in case. He still freaks out the cats occasionally by wanting to sniff them though…comes running up and smells their feet and they get freaked out and run haha He is also kind of obsessed with my hair, which is a little weird I must say, but endearing. I have had some trouble in encouraging him to eat his hay since introducing greens. I think he much enjoys this treat, that I suspect he never got. I have sourced a local farmer who has good quality small bales of timothy, so I hope that will encourage him to eat more hay again!
I am setting up a vet visit for a once over and to ensure he is indeed a he! Haha And also to inquire about having him fixed if need be. I am not sure if he is or not. For his age, he doesn’t act the least hormonal, uses his litter, and doesn’t small…but who knows.
I am a first time rabbit owner. I always wanted one as a child, so can now enjoy in adulthood! I also have a horse, two cats, a saltwater tank, and a few fresh water!
ETA: photos!! Can’t believe I forgot!
