Hi! My name is Ebony, and I own a Flemish Giant named Leigh. She was bred by my mother, and I took her as my own. Her parents were bought from a backyard breeder (so I’m unsure if Leigh is vitally purebred or not). Leigh is very friendly, she does her binkies, and she flops on her side to relax. She is currently 7-8 months old, but it feels like much longer! She’s a very odd coat colour. In summer, she’s very light, pretty much grey, and in winter she’s brown with darker brown patterns. She was born pretty much black in neutral light, a bit of a grey in bright daylight. She’s a very perplexing rabbit! She says hi! And I hope to make new friends here!

Always exciting to have Flemish Giants around. I have a Netherland Dwarf, so thinking about large rabbits is not my forte haha.

Hello there and welcome to BB, Leigh is a gorgeous girl.

It sounds like her coat colour could be related to the pointed gene and other similar things. Like with siamese cats and californian rabbits, the points are temperature sensitive which means that they are darker in cooler months, and lighter in summer months. However they are usually born much more pale, rather than black so I can’t explain that (like how dalmatian puppies are born completely white and then their spots develop later because their bodies have cooled down since being born).
