I’m new here! I have one Bunny. He’s a male English spot Dwarf Mix. He’s going to be two sometime in February (or so the vet estimated when he was a baby)

Unfortunatley, he’s the only animal I have who *isn’t* a “true”rescue animal. I got him at a small petstore. We had recently moved to the area, and I wanted to see what the pet store had in the way of animal toys and treats, He was all alone in this tiny cage, scared. he looked so frightened.  he had a little bit of pellets, but he had very littleroom to move. He could move length wise, but not really width wise.

The woman and the little boy there only spoke  Spanish, but the man spoke English. I asked if I could see the poor bun, and the man translated. and they took him out sort of by his legs. (The way you never take out a bun or any animal) The little boy and the woman started poking him and saying “estupido estupido” in Spanish when he tried to get away. It was really upsetting. I literally said “I’ll take the Rabbit.” I had walked there so I wound up carrying him home in my purse before they handed him to me they were holding him so tight it looked like he would break. his eyes were bullged out. He was so tiny, he fit in the palm of my hand. The vet was surprised how young he was. She estimated his age at the latest was just under 10 weeks.

He’s the only animal I’ve gotten spontaneously, and I’m so glad I did. he’s the best little bun in the world.  he’s taught me a lot. I used to think Rabbits were more like Guinea pigs, but they’re much more like cats. And a lot more fun.  In the future i’d love to get another Bun from a rescue group.

His favorite things are: The dog, Murder She Wrote, stuffed animals, his bunny maze, and apples.

His territory: All of my bedroom, and sometimes the living room.

Animals who share the house: A Cocker Spaniel (His best friend. She’s from the Second Chance Cocker Rescue, in Santa Barbara California.)

An ancient  Guinea Pig (I had two, but unfortunately, summer 2008, she passed away. )

18 year old Australian Shepard Mix dog

        Red Eared slider Turtle

        and The Cat.

          Welcome!
That’s a wonderful story and you did so rescue him.
I’d be tempted to get my local animal control to keep an eye on that pet store to prevent other bunnies from being abused like that.
And I will confess to going to a small local store that I knew my own vet had advised about what foods to buy and was caring for her animals as she had them to sell (much better conditions and mostly birds for sale) when I saw Samantha. She was by herself too, and I knew she was mine. More of us here ended up taking home someone that pulled on our heartstrings while in a pet store for supplies than are willing to admit.

And now, I must say it first: we LOVE pictures. Post pix of all of your furbabies. Never enough pix of our pets. (Post in the Lounge so we’ll all be sure to see them.)

Thank you! Here are some pictures. My camera cable snapped (for once it wasn’t bunny related!) so until I get a new one, this pictures are from my phone, or older ones.

That is his blanket/cage cover. He loves to sit on it and look out the window. In that picture he’s watching Murder She Wrote.  Right now he has a “couch” I made him there. It’s on top of his cage.

I hope the Pictures aren’t too big. He looks much bigger than he is in pictures. He’s a real snuggle bunny. The last two are cellphone pictures, and the first is from november I think. The thing on the bottom right in the picture is part of a stacking cup (pudding cup) I’m not sure why it looks like that.

What a sweet face! I like his markings. I like his blanket too – he looks well pampered as he should be.
