I am so careful with chocolate and dogs, unfortunately I didn’t know my daughter had placed an Easter chocolate rabbit on her bedside table, Cody ate some of the chocolate while I was out and now he is fighting for his life in the emergency animal hospital.

Please everyone can you send healing vibes for him.

Definitely sending healing vibes your way!

From what I understand chocolate is like crack for dogs. Really bad for them, and once they get some they just can’t stop. The only time Dakota ever really bit me was when I was trying to wrestle some chocolate away from her, and it was quite a bite! I can’t imagine how scared your family must be for your dog right now. *hugs*

He is back home and doing well, the vet said I will need to watch for his pancreas that no fat from the choc has entered and will cause a problem.

I was very quick to get him to the hospital for his stomach to be pumped, crossing everything that all will be ok.

Thanks everyone for the healing vibes, I do believe they help, even if it is for me. 🙂

{{Cody}} My gosh-I was just thinking tonight how careful we’ll now have to be with bunnies and a dog!! My dog while I was growing up was constantly getting into everything-chocolate included. Not sure how current this is-I’ll have to look it up now-but my parents would give her peroxide to induce vomiting and get it up, we always luckily caught her right after. I think it happened three tmes desptie our best caution (ie. we were told our parents left a note to Santa to put our stockings in our bedrooms on the counter so our dog wouldn’t get into the chocolate).

{{Cody}} I bet since they were able to stomach pump, he’ll do well!!! {{Cody}} Sending lots of healing vibes-keep us posted!!!

Thanks again everyone, he is doing well and sleeping lots, I can understand having his stomach pumped it would of wiped him out for a while.

After all these years I would have felt terrible if he died of being careless with the choc.
