This morning I noticed my Eddie’s head twitching to the side over and over again. He seemed to be having trouble seeing me and his food. I read online that it could be an ear infection. Has this happened to anyone else? Why is he having trouble seeing? I can’t get him into the vet until Monday will he be okay until then? I’m really worried about him is there anything I can do to help with his pain?
        Thanks in advance!

I’m sorry to hear about this.

Yes, ear infections can cause head tilt, but the visual aspect is concerning as well. In addition to an ear infection, my thought is actually e cunniculi, which is an unfortunate sickness that can befall rabbits; however, treatment is available.

Can you call your rabbit vet for some advice/consult this weekend? I’m unsure how quickly these types of illnesses can progress, but the sooner the better, as it seems he is showing symptoms rapidly.

In the mean time, be sure he is eating and pooping.

My parents won’t let me bring him to emergency care because it’ll be very expensive. Is there anything I can do to help him before I can get to the vet?

I would say keep a close eye on him and help him the best you can. Make sure he can get around easily (maybe move obstscles out of the way since he cannot see as well). Keep stress levels down, so not too noisy and not proding him too much, and keep his spirits up with good food and hay. If he gets his face wet due to the tilt, help clean him with a clean towel to the face and such. No baths though!
