Hi, I am new to the forum and just simply has to join as sometimes I guess I don’t know it all and def need advise. So after searching a long time for the perfect hay feeder (most of them are so small) I found one I actually liked and thought it was big enough. And it hangs perfectly above my rabbits litter box. I fill it all the way up and figure it will at least last her all day. But sure enough after maybe a few hours most of the hay is in her letterbox and I am not sure if she pulls it out or the spaces are to big. So I placed a smaller spaced plastic cover to make the spaces little bit smaller but it has not changed anything. I just feel like once its in the litter box she won’t eat it and i am just going through bags of hay like crazy. Please can someone advise me on what I should do or a better hay feeder solution? Thank you so much.

          Welcome BunnyMimi !

Im am guessing that your rabbit is probably pulling the hay out to forage through it for her favourite bits. They’ll often eat those first and go back to the rest later.

Have you tried just offering it in the box though? She may actually prefer it that way.

I have 2 litter trays inside a bigger plastic box, and then I fill the middle with hay. This means they can forage through the hay while in their litterboxes, but it also means it doesn’t end up getting dirty by being in the actual litter box. I’ve found that it’s a really good solution and it cuts down a lot of waste.
