LBJ told me she gets the Blue Blend and I’m thinking about trying that, but in the meantime, I’m ordering from Sierra Valley. My Gus doesn’t like first cut because it’s so stalky. The 2nd cut is grassier, and I’ve just ordered 3rd cut from them (because they said to order while it lasted) but I don’t know how much grassier it is, though it’s supposed to be grassier. I’m repeating myself. Sorry. Anyway, it is a freaking FORTUNE to order it on line. When I lived in NY I paid $6 for a bale of Timothy that lasted forever. Now I have to pay $50 for the equivalent of about 1/4 of a bale. It’s driving me insane!!! But I just can’t find any here in South Carolina, though some people have luck with theTimothy that Central Tractor sells. I forget what it’s called, and I don’t think people on here typically recommend it,but some people do have luck with feeding it. Mine didn’t like it. Sometimes rabbits like it if you mix other kinds in, like a bit of the botanical or oat that you can get in small quantities from the pet store. There’s orchard grass too. I made the mistake of ordering one of the big $50 boxes of oat hay on-line, only to realize Gus was eating the tops and nothing else, so I have to limit that, and I have a MASSIVE quantity. I’ve tried to pawn some off on Cottontail, but so far no luck ha ha! You could try finding a horse farm near you (maybe Google horse boarding) and see if you get anywhere. Didn’t work for me though.
