Hello, I was wondering if anyone walks their bun using a harness, If you do, what is the best harness? I am wanting to start taking Phantom on walks in the evening to give him a new level of exercise.

Harnesses are actually really bad for bunnies because if the harness gets caught on something, the bunny can possibly break his back trying to get out. Most bunnies hate harnesses as well. If you want to give him more exercise, I would recommend setting up a large playpen, such as a dog x-pen or a pen made from NIC grids.

Definitely I’d say don’t-you can find lots of threads on here about all the risks. I knew someone who does rabbit hopping (it’s like dog agility with rabbits) -so very experienced, and she still had a rabbit freak out, and break his back while on a harness and leash. It can happen in the blink of an eye and though I used to try the harness for outdoors time, I never would again.

Also piping in and saying don’t harness your bunny – they are prey animals and their first response to any sort of noise they consider danger is flee. And fast. Way too fast for you to be able to let go of the leash in time to not break their backs. And even if you DID manage to let go – there’s always the possibility of you not being able to catch them since they will almost definitely hide somewhere not to be found and will also be open to other animals.

Thanks guys. Glad I didn’t go through with my idea. Phantom is quite happy just running around binkying all over the house.
