Fun or not so fun?
Well, my big plan for the day is going to physical therapy. Then tonight and tomorrow night me and my husband will stay up late and play StarCraft on the computer. So, fun and not so fun. lol =)
How are you doing Amy? Is therapy going well?
We just got dumped upon by mother nature… so a snow day for me today… schoolwork from home. Work tomorrow for a few hours… The hubby has mandatory weekend overtime, so a lot of me and the kid hanging out.
Snow, Beka! Eeeks – we are in the 70’s this weekend.
I am helping tomorrow at the guinea pig rescue store – this is like another full day of work to me. It’s kind of fun but it’s still a big responsibility and I work my butt off!
Sunday, Mom is coming over so that is fun. And of course I have to clean house….not so fun.
Thanks for asking Beka. I’m doing good. I’m not in so much pain anymore and I’m healing well. Just tired of sitting around so much and not being able to do things for myself. My therapist is amazed at how strong my leg has gotten in such a short amount of time but it’s not bending like it should. I can only get a 60 degree bend and I should have a 90. =(
We got 13″ of snow last Sunday. My hubby was finally done shoveling Monday night.
Hey Sarita… *threadjack*
What kind of requirements does the GP rescue have as far as adoptions? Do they do home visits? Do they have cage size requirements? Do they spay/neuter? I know pigs are very social, so do they only adopt out pairs or to people with an existing pig? Just curious. I’m somewhat familiar with pigs, but I haven’t dealt with a rescue that adopted them out.
They don’t do home visits. They only adopt in pairs or pair a piggy with an existing piggy. They require a cage of 2 x 4 of the grids. They neuter the males. They don’t spay the females unless it’s for medical reasons because it’s very risky.
They do ask for pictures of your cage if you haven’t adopted from them – they are super picky about this.
They don’t do emergency spays either so they always have lots of babies – the piggy gestation period is 55 to 60 days so they have to be careful with adopting a female that comes in – I think unless they know she hasn’t been with a male they keep her that long and one of the volunteers runs the “maternity ward”. We have tons of babies right now and they are cute.
These guys are very noisy though – I get there on Saturday around 8:30 a.m. and cannot start my “job” until I throw some carrots in their cage to quiet them down. And I feed on Thursday nights and they down quiet down until they get their romaine. These pigs are fed very well….
Sarita, it’s in the 70s up there? We have weather in the 40s this morning in ATX! How does that happen? We’re usually hotter down here, lol.
Yay Amy! Glad to hear that your leg is on the right track
Not so fun weekend here for me; paper due next week + two exams = academic wringer, not to mention that I have another two exams later today before I can finally have a “happy Friday”. Hooray for the life of a student, lol.
WOW! I didn’t know their gestation was that long! That’s so odd for a “small animal”. I purchased a pig at a petstore when I was a teen, she had babies a couple week after I got her home. I think they’re adorable but at this point, I prefer rabbits. They definitely can be loud. We ended up having to move them out of my room when I had them because no one upstairs was able to sleep!
We’re going to look at a few more houses on Sunday. They seem ok, but we’re most excited about re-visiting one we’ve seen a couple times now. We wanted to put an offer on it, but with taxes at $9500 we just couldn’t justify the price (even though the price of the house itself is right in our budget). We got an email that the owners were able to get a lien and get the taxes down to $8600, which makes a big difference. I’d still prefer taxes in the $6-7k range, but we really like this house. We’re going to visit one more time and probably make an offer, assuming the two cheaper houses we see don’t work out.
Tonight I’m going to my favorite restaurant with DH and some friends to celebrate my birthday. Yay!
I can’t wait for the weekend! Work is going horrible lately 🙁 Bad things keep happening in this sector I just took responsibility for – I have to explain why these things are happening and what I’m going to do about it, but I don’t even know what’s going on yet and I’m flying blind. It’s really stressful. Blah. Today I spent a couple hours trying to pull up information, but I couldn’t remember how and nobody was around to help. I hate not knowing how to do things and having to run around finding people to ask. The joys of working in a manufacturing environment!
Good luck on the house hunting Elrohwen…those taxes are outrageous! Wow.
Beka, I’m not a big piggie fan – I think they are cute, but I don’t want one.
I am getting my new Macbook Pro though on Sunday – I bought one last Sunday found out they came out with a new improved one yesterday so I went to the Apple store to exchange it and get a data transfer and probably won’t be able to pick it up until Sunday so I won’t have a computer until then unless I take my work one home which I don’t want to. But I’m excited to have a new Mac!
east coast taxes are outrageous (i heard jersey is the worst)… ive been househunting for the past year and a half too. cant wait to dump my 1200′ IL condo with 4k property tax.
90% sure that AZ is where it’s at,, eliminate high property tax, winter, and humidity all in one fell swoop.
10% possibility of NV and eliminate state income tax too, but winters aren’t as warm.
glad you’re making progress amy&hugo! i’m sure it feels like it’s dragging out but you’ll get through. hang tight =)
my weekend includes lots of studying (like peppypoo
), a minor peewee hockey game, lunch with the girls, a pile of housework, and a mother daughter brunch at mom’s church. should be nice and busy.
sarita, you really are sticking to the piggy volunteer work! even tho it’s tiring i’m sure you get a sense of accomplishment from it. i hope you do anyways! a new mac? *jealous*
elrohwen… go enjoy your bday dinner (happpppy dayyyy!) and put the work stress behind for a couple days. my work has been a bit better lately but not so long ago it sucked. i can relate to the stress factor!
lhm, that’s a loooong time to be house hunting. boo. hope you find something suitable soon. are you seriously looking out of state or is that just a pipe dream?
I have no clue what’s going on with me this weekend. Probably a lot of laying around like normal. LOL I’ve been battling a sinus infection for the past week or so and today it reared it’s ugly head. I woke up this morning all congested and with a sinus headache again. Blah. So other than trying to get over that, I also need to clean.
Well, my mom in law is coming by tomorrow to see her grandbunnies and to get me to design something pretty for her jewelry wise. And then, it’s cementing time for the girls
We had a brand new laptop delivered yesterday, so I can play and read forums and do my usual computer stuff while int he living room with them. Yay for insurance settlements lol.

We just got dumped upon by mother nature… so a snow day for me today… schoolwork from home.
haha! That just reminded me of Mondays DR entry. Did you see it? http://www.disapprovingrabbits.com/2011/02/bobo-bmw.html
Regarding that picture, anyone recognise the wood hidey box in it? I’m wondering where it comes from. btw, look closely and you can see a tiny bit of hay or something in the buns mouth. At 1st glance I thought it was a tooth. Cute!
My weekend….it’s underway and wasting away. I have lots of washing & boring stuff to do as always. I might go visit BB member Kafrn for Taters’n’Scotch. j/k Maybe just the Taters. : )
I gotta work all weekend, but tomorrow I get off work at 2pm so I’m thinking about trying out this harness I got for Spooky. I want to try to take him to the park down the street to see how he likes it. Its supposed to be sunny and 65 degrees tomorrow! It was cold today, but we had a crazy storm and some tornadoes last night. I had to grab Spooky out of his cage, I hated that I had to do that. But I had to get him in the basement with us. He wasn’t happy. There were too many noises happening and he was already mad about me grabbing him out of the cage. AND before that he was pissed about the tornado sirens going off. He just didn’t have a good night haha. I did give him some mango for the first time after all that and he seemed to LOVE it.
I bought him a cat bed today that was on sale– so maybe that will make up for me going into his territory to get him last night.
alexa, make sure to try him with the harness at home first. if he hates it or is scared of it, you don’t want to be outside if he freaks out.
Housework and more housework!!!!!!! Ick I hate it so much lol![]()
Watching ‘Who do you think you are?’
OMG.
Well I’ll be either cooped up in the house or shoveling the more than 40cm of snow we got last night. Dang it, winter! What a tease because I was so excited yesterday morning to see a spot of grass!!! I can’t even see my car in the driveway or out my front door at all.
I’ll be working on some crafts probably. I started getting into cardmaking and I bought a bunch of stuff so I will have fun with that. Tomorrow I think I will build Stormy his cube condo. I wanted to do it weeks ago but he’s freaked out by the bigger space so I’ve set up a pen around his cage and been gradually letting him out for a few hours everyday to get him used to it. Then I can take another stab at bonding. Olivia will get a condo next. Then I can finally get my rabbit room together.
Tomorrow night is my be-lated birthday supper with my family. Yay…my Mom makes the best vegetarian lasagna!
Britt, I heard that show was really good! I wanted to watch old episodes online, but you have to pay for a premium version of Hulu to watch them. Booo. I should just record the new episodes that are airing on tv now.
Elrowhen! I think that you’ll love it! It is so humbling seeing celebrities express all of these unknown emotions about their family! Instead of acting, it is true emotions they themselves as a person are feeling.
Do you have On Demand? Skibunny and I watch it (not together obviously, but we talk about the new episodes lol) and we both love it ![]()
EDIT: It is on at 8 pm on Fridays on NBC.. I believe ![]()
We do have On Demand – I’ll have to check and see if that show is offered for free or not. Hulu also had an offer of one week free if you sign up for their premium plan – I could always sign up, watch the show, and then cancel. At most I would have to pay for one month which is only $7 or something. Or I guess I could just wait for it to come out on Netflix.
I’ll definitely start recording the new episodes though!
It is free
It is under TV Series ![]()
Sweet! I’ll look for it tomorrow if I can get DH to stop playing video games long enough for me to watch tv 😛
Well, Spooky’s first time outside just consisted of him trying to climb my leg so I would pick him up and hold him. He was being a baby, haha. The first minute we were out there I sat down on the ground with him and he just crawled into my lap and got comfortable. So I put him back in the grass and he came right back into my lap again! So I tried standing up and he walked around for a minute, ate a piece of grass, then came running back to me to try to climb up my leg. (I didn’t realized how big he was until he was all stretched out like that!) It was so cute and it just melted my heart that he wanted me to hold him so bad. But I want him to enjoy some outside time! We’re gonna try again tomorrow and try to get him warmed up to it.
My bunny’s first outdoor exploration consisted of: Her wanting to go back in
So, we never did it again LOL!!!!!
Dave is working on our small bathroom-and the deal is he renovates -I clean. So yeah, cleaning lol. I got a ton done today-actually I’ve been martha the past few months cleaning a lot. Well losing my computer had a lot to do with that heheh no internet means I have to clean! But it’s mostly fixed so we’ll see how I do
Did the dogpark today and well-that’s the exciting life of being old-cleaning, renovating and doing pet stuff! LOL
Paper deadline got pushed back two days! Woohoo! Of course I should still get it done this weekend…but..well…
I don’t even know how many times I’ve watched this video tonight, and I’m still laughing my butt off every time: http://www.youtube.com/watch. It’s some British show (or part of it) where two people are supposed to guess the song from a guy who is doing an interpretive dance of the lyrics. Not all of his mimes of choice are entirely PG, but it’s hilarious! ![]()
Well losing my computer had a lot to do with that
I have computer problems and I find I get a lot more done when my computer’s down too. Ummm……let me just check the board one more time before I start cleaning. Now let me check facebook one more time……….let’s check netflix for new movies. Oh there’s one I want to watch. It’s 2pm, I can watch it then clean after. 10pm – no cleaning done. LOL
We looked at some houses this weekend, but didn’t have any luck 🙁 We finally got to see the backyard of the one we loved (since most of the snow is gone now) and it seemed really wet – there was a drainage stream right through it. I don’t want to get 2 acres and have most of it be swampy. We still love the house, but we’re going to hold off until our agent can get us info about the lot.
We saw two other houses that were a bust. I’m also still thinking about the one we already put an offer on. The sellers implied that they would sell it to us for $10k more than we offered. It’s not more than we can technically afford, but it kind of puts the price up more than we wanted to spend, if that makes sense. I kind of have a mental block about going over a certain amount and obviously spending less per month is better than more. But still, it’s a fantastic house in a fantastic location and if we were willing to pay $10k less, why not bump it up a little more? Gah, I’m so sick of house hunting!
My work stuff resolved itself and what originally seemed to be my fault and responsibility has shifted to someone else. Haha. Yay for that! I love when I can prove that my equipment didn’t cause the problem.
