So I’m supposed to get my new bunny soon.

Some of you remember when I first started coming here I was upset because my mom led me to believe I could get a rabbit (Taylor/Bird… he was lovely) and then refused to let me bring him into her house (I tried asking to keep him in the garage because I would bring him in the house while she was at work, and I knew she’d eventually let him inside, but she said that was no place for a rabbit).  I didn’t want to wait to find another one I liked because it takes me so long since I specifically want a rex, etc… and this one’s so dang unique!

My mom STILL won’t let one on her property, but I’m getting an apartment on September 1 so I just need a place to keep him until then.  So I contacted the regional HRS asking for boarding recommendations and received a very speedy response from Davida, who set me up with my foster rabbit Todd a few years back.  I expected her to send me a list of places to check out, but instead she forwarded my message to a couple people she thought might be willing to take him for me until that point, and one of those people already responded saying she had a trustworthy friend who she’d ask.

I also posted an ad on craigslist, though I’d prefer he stay with someone from HRS.  I think my craiglist post is actually a benefit to all of rabbitkind, though…. it’s titled “Thinking of getting a rabbit?  Give it a test run!”  And if I ended up letting someone on craigslist take him (eg. one girl told me she’s been thinking of getting one but knows nothing about them) I’d make sure they had everything they needed and all the knowledge they needed… and they’d probably learn bunnies aren’t the way they expected =)

But super kudos to HRS for being a full-service society.

Also!  Bunspace is SUPER CREEPY.  but I might grow to love it.

I think having an HRS foster home until you can take him is an excellent solution.
I would advise going with that rather than Craigslist responders. As nice as it is to let someone test out having a rabblit, there is more of a risk that they do not care for him properly, and if he becomes injured or afraid, you, and he, will be the one to deal with the consequences later on. HRS fosters will give him the right care he needs for this short time.

or worse the craigslist person may not give him back.
