Grumpy Bun and Kittens

So I’ve had my female and male rabbit bonded for a little over a year and they’re getting along very well after an exhaustive 6 month bonding process. We’ve now adopted two kittens and I’d really like them to be able to get along. My female rabbit has been frequently thumping if she catches sight of a kitten even though they hardly pay the rabbits any mind and are in separate rooms. I’ve noticed when she gets a little stressed about the kittens the male rabbit takes the opportunity to get in his humping time (even though they’re both fixed). I don’t want her to be anxious all the time about kittens or about getting humped. We’ve only had the kittens for two weeks do you think they just need more time to get accostomed to kitty smells?

awwwww what cuties! I think it will just require time, and gradual introductions. Its good the kittens are still so young, they should be easy to teach that bunnies are friends, not food

It may be harder for the bunnies to get used to the kittens than they would full grown cats. Cats are more mellow and understand “buzz off” messages from bunnies a bit better. On the other hand, for a bunny, where there’s a kitten, there’s soon to be a cat. Bunny sigh.

I agree with Pam, but it is good that you can teach the kittens to respect the rabbits. I had rats when I had my two orange snuggle puffs and they have complete respect for small animals now. My sister’s cat on the other hand… well I’m just glad that my rabbits have ‘tude’ and put him in his place.
