Hi everybody! I recently noticed some grumbling noises coming from pebbles. He has a history of GI stasis, so I’m worried it could be that. He is eating normally and seems to have the same amount of energy. Should I be worried?

Oh ya. I forgot to mention that he is going to the toilet normally, but I have been noticing his poops are a bit lighter than normal. I just thought it was because I was giving him more hay?

You can give him baby gas drops as it might be gas in his tummy. Also hay should be 80-90%of their diet, does he have unlimited hay all the time?

Okay, i will try that. Yes, Pebbles does have unlimited hay, I used to just feed him hay in the afternoon and he ate it all, so I decided to give him some in the morning as well. Thats all

If he’s increased his hay intake, it could temporarily cause a bit of gas until the tummy has gotten used to the new amount. It’s a bit like if we increase our intake of fiber – fiber (for a rabbit, both the soluble and insoluble fiber) is food for the healthy gut micro-organisms. They happily multiply as they process the fiber and convert cellulose to starch etc. I’d give gas drops, 0.5-1 ml of 40-20% simethicone drops. You could give that for a couple of nights (or in the morning) while his tum is adjusting.

Light poop is excellent and a sign that the bunny is eating a good amount of hay.
