Good day fellow bunny lovers!
I was hoping for some advice on the topic of my baby buns teeth.
So my little Beau’s situation is the following – his top teeth look great. As for his bottom teeth… One of them is actually growing sideways/inwards towards the other tooth – not by much, but enough that you can notice. Although that is happening, that tooth is still growing perfectly behind the top teeth. As for the other tooth, it is growing straight, but it has now made its way on top of his top teeth.
For a while they were even with the top teeth, and then within a week they had moved. To be clear its not extra long or anything like some photos I have seen online, but it definitely needs to be adjusted.
I know this is not good and needs to be taken care of. I read that what he may need would be some “clippings” every so often to correct it, which some people do themselves but I’m sure I’d have a vet do it. I also read that sometimes it just takes time for teeth to adjust to their growing faces and sometimes it corrects itself. But with how they are looking now I’m not overly confident it will. I also read that its not good to do the “clippings” too early either… Needless to say, a lot of information out there has me confused. lol. I’m definitely not opposed to taking him to the vet if that is what he needs, but I figured I would get advice from other bunny parents first as the answer I always get from the vet is to take them in to have it checked out then make a decision. As I said, not opposed to this, just don’t want to waste the money if I don’t have to you know…?
Also to clarify, my baby bun is exactly 10 weeks old. I will be getting him neutered at 4 months old – this is when its best to do it right? Knowing this, would it be a good idea to wait until then to see if his body growing does help with his teeth situation and at this time the vet could give advice on how to proceed?
He has access to lots of toys to chew on to hopefully help with this as well. Also to add, he is still eating normally, playing, binkying, and doing all other normal things. He does not appear to be in any pain, but I want to make sure he does not get to that point.
I would add a picture so you could see what it looks like but I’ve tried many times and can’t seem to upload anything.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!
