Hello all, greetings from Massachusetts! I’m a long time bunny slave, but first time bunny board poster.
I’m currently owned by 2 rabbits, FuuFuu and Lucky.
Fuu is an 8+ year old spayed white Netherland Dwarf, weighs approx 3lb 2oz, and I’ve had her for 6+ years. I got her as part of a bonded pair from a woman who had owned them for 2+ years. At the risk of sounding mean, I think she was a less than ideal owner. The bunnies had obviously never been properly handled, were rarely let out of their cage, and I think the most variety they ever got in their diet was a bit of carrot now and then. Sadly, her mate passed away around 2.5 years ago from what I’m told was old age. For as long as I’ve known her, she’s been The Queen Of The World. The older she gets, the more I joke that she’s a hairy white Napoleon. That having been said, she’s an affectionate kiss-monster who loves to be pet but hates laps and lately has decided she also hates brushes. (I don’t argue with her about the first, but we’re still in a battle over the brush.)
Lucky is ? Around a year old? Neutered Holland Lop, and weighs approximately 5lb 6oz. He looks like a cow and acts like a puppy, it’s really too adorable. My fiancé and I had been discussing for some time adopting a second bunn so Fuu would have better companionship than a couple of boring humans who work all day. All our plans of adoption flew out the window when we went into a local pet store to buy litter. We saw a sad little lop sitting in what looked like a jerry-rigged chinchilla cage, and were told by an employee that his owner had dumped him there because they were (supposedly) moving and didn’t want to take him with them. The employee said they were told that he’s about a year old, but I question this. I’m far from an expert, but for some reason I think it much more likely that he’s less than a year old. I think he hit puberty, they decided it was too troublesome to deal with a hormonal bunny, and they dumped him off. I’m grateful they at least left him at a pet store. He’s ours now! We had him neutered roughly 2 months ago. He’s extremely friendly, loves to be brushed and cuddled, and is turning out to be a real lap bunny. He’s also a total Casanova.
Lucky is actually the reason I’ve joined this forum. I’ll be posting a question in the bonding board shortly because he’s apparently extremely vocal. (He loves to sing/honk, even though he’s been neutered. I think it’s adorable but I’m not sure what to make of it.)
Edit: Here’s a photo of Lucky, I still have to load one up of Fuu. I’m such a bad mommy!
