My Info:
I’m so excited to have found this community! Again, I will always, always, always appreciate any advice, tips or suggestions you guys can give me! Edmund is incredibly special to me, so please feel free to message me and/or reply to this thread with your thoughts at any time.
Best,
Merbella
Welcome! Edmund is posing like a pro. What a nice photograph. If he was just neutered, he will need more time for his hormones to fade, about three weeks at least. Where did you get him?
Thank you so much! Haha, yes, he is quite the little model, isn’t he?
Thank you for the info regarding his hormones! I haven’t noticed a change in his behavior since the procedure, except that he’s not quite as active as he used to be (which is completely understandable, all things considered). I’m guessing I should wait at least three weeks, then, to begin litter box training him?
I purchased him from a Holland Lops breeder in Utah. Let me know if you’d like me to PM you more information on the breeder. ![]()
Welcome! Edmund is adorable ![]()
Oh what a little cutie! He’s a super model!
Welcome!!!
Welcome to Binky Bunny! He IS a gorgeous fellow and I love the name. It suits him well.
Edmund is a very handsome little guy.
He looks like he’s wearing an ear hat for the winter. So Cute!
Their behavior calms down after neuter, but also as they grow up, so don’t be concerned. He sounds like he’s right on track. For more general info. check out the drop down menus on the green banner above to learn more about all things bunny.
I would start to litter train him right away. The neuter won’t matter, except making him better at it.
He definitely feels safe with you. He’s saying “wow, I have a great slave here.”
Welcome – he’s cute.
Welcome!
He is beautiful!!! I love agouti rabbits!!!
Oh goodness! He is so cute! Welcome!
Start the littertraining now, as Rabbitpam said.
You will see that his circling you will get less in the weeks ahead as his hormones settle and also any spraying and marking.
I was just curious if Edmund had a story behond him, as many rescued rabbits do. That’s why I asked where you got him.
Thanks, everyone, for your replies! I am loving the fact that this forum is so active.
jerseygirl, I’m glad you think his name suits him! I had the hardest time coming up with a name that clicked… For some reason, “Edmund” just felt right to me. My parents and my siblings think it’s a strange name for a rabbit, but to me, he “looks” like an Edmund. I’ve never been a fan of cliched names for pets anyway…
The more unique, the better!
lol, RabbitPam, yes, he does look like he’s wearing an ear hat! Of course I’m biased, but I think he has a perfect profile. (Yes, I’m obsessed. Heh.)
I had read that the neuter would make him better at litter box training, RabbitPam, but I wasn’t sure if that was immediately after the neuter or around three or four weeks after the neuter. Do you happen to know? I can definitely start litter box training him now though if you think that’s preferable. I would love to be able to give him more free reign during “play time.”
Thank you, Beka27! The lady that neutered him said his agouti coloring made him look like a wild rabbit, and I happen to agree. (Forgetting the floppy ears, of course.
)
Thank you, Barbie! I’m glad you think he’s cute too.
Petzy, I’m really hoping the marking will lessen with time… I haven’t litter box trained him yet, so fingers crossed!
I was just curious if Edmund had a story behond him, as many rescued rabbits do.
Edmund isn’t a “rescue rabbit.” I had my heart set on getting a Holland Lop… *hides in shame* If I get another one though, which I do plan on doing when I have a little more space at my disposal, I plan on taking Edmund to a shelter and letting him pick out a friend. ![]()
You can definitely start training him now, my Monkey was litter trained long before her spay, so your little man should be good to go ![]()
Oh my gosh! what a cutie! I love the ones where the ears go down <3
Merbella, littertraining isn’t always an *active* activity you have to do. You can set it up in a way where the bunny almost has to succeed, at least some of the time.
He should always have a medium or large cat litterbox (don’t use the small corner critter boxes) filled with safe litter and hay. Don’t have litter or bedding anywhere else in his cage, only the litterbox. You’ll be cleaning up messes here and there, but they should lessen, and as his hormones are reduced, that will help too.
He may always mark with poop. That is a natural thing for bunnies to do to delineate their territory. I feel that “littertrained” means they are 100% with pee and at least 75% with poop. The poops, as you know now, are small and round and dry. So if they are on the floor, you can just pick it up and toss them in the litterbox.
He is so darn cute! Love him. Can you post more pics?
I also love the name. I’m a sucker for pets with people names (especially slightly unusual people names)
^ Thank you so much! I’m glad you like the name too.
I do have some more pics. Here are just a few…
The bottoms of his feet aren’t that yellow anymore…
He looks mad here, lol.

The first picture in my original post is the best. These three were taken with a cell phone and don’t do his beautiful (super shiny and soft!) multi-colored coat justice.
I need to take some more high-quality ones…
