Green Around Mouth

Recently, after my rabbit eats her dinner (lettuce, fennel, etc), she ends up having a bunch of green juice on her fur at the corners of her mouth. She never used to have that happen and I’m trying to figure out if something’s wrong or if her food has just been a lot juicer lately…or she’s been a lot messier!

She went to the vet about three weeks ago to get her nails trimmed and she was checked up and fine. I’m pretty sure at that point she was already having issues with the juice on her fur, not that I thought much about it.

We’ll be taking her for a nail trimming in a couple of weeks. I was just trying to figure out if there’s any reason I should be worried and take her for a checkup sooner? I’ve read about the signs of teeth issues and I’m not sure if this is a sign.

She’s perfectly happy and acting normal. She eats her meals, is going to the bathroom fine, and flops and binkies around the house on a regular basis. She’s actually flopped on her side/back right now!

Does anyone else have a messy bunny who just enjoys her food so much to the point of dribbling lettuce & fennel juice? Or is this something to be concerned about?

I have two bunnies, only one of them gets green stuff around his mouth bit he is totally covered in it by the time he has finished eating! I think it’s probably normal.

Bindi gets messy green “lipstick” when he eats dark green veggies. If this is new behaviour, however, it could be that bunny is having some dental issues and is drooling more when eating. Worth mentioning to the vet. Cute pic.

Porky’s fur is a dark color, so I never notice green on it,but he often leaves green stains on his carpet.

Thanks everyone I feel much better! I still mention it to the vet when I take her for her nail trimming but I won’t worry too much. She’s probably just being messier than normal. Ever since we cut back on her pellets to lose a little weight, she’s been munching on her greens like they’re going to run out one day.
