So I got a puppy 3 days ago. He is a 10 week old golden doodle who is possibly one of the most calmest puppies i have ever seen. Yes he go crazy sometimes but he’s not really a barker or stuff like that. We have had him smell lux a bunch and even went to see how he would react with them face to face. The first time he tried to play with her but she ran away. Then we put her in the hallway trapped with a gate where she has room to move and to go in the bathroom which we found out she loves going behind th toilet. anyways second time she was in her litterbox and he got close and she kicked him so he backed off got down on his stomach and wanted to play. My question is how long until lux will be ok with our puppy? We really want them to be best friends but I know it will take time. If we let them interact together a little everyday eventually with our bunny be ok with him and not run away all the time? Also I feel bad that now when we let her out she’s not free roam of the house like she was she’s in the hallway and bathroom. Lux is still happy and still gives kisses and stuff and eats regularly and stuff. She doesn’t seemed phased by our puppy at all. I just don’t want lux to hate us if temporarily she’s not free roaming the house. She’s running around the house now since the pupper is sleeping on the couch with me. What do you guys thinks?

If shes kicking, shes scared of the dog (can you blame her? rabbits are prey animals). You need to move a lot slower with this. Dog on leash while around Lux so she knows she can always get away without being chased or “played with”. The dog needs to be trained “No” and “Sit”/”Lay Down”. While youre not around, both need to be gated apart, or in their own select pens/cages. Without a slow moment and training, youre risking your bun’s life if the dog decided to “play” too hard.

When you mentioned this a few months ago, I think people offered some really good advice that you might want to go back and read. You’re moving really fast for both of them. As I said previously, like bonding bunnies, this will take a lot of time, maybe even more so because the natural inclination is predatory vs prey.

Hi Xxxventanaxx! Congratulations on your new puppy!

This thread has a very good informative post by UroborosElite on how to make a puppy and a rabbit aquainted. It’s post nr 5 in the thread: https://binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/aft/164067/Default.aspx#573141

I have a GSD dog and a rabbit, but my dog wasn’t a puppy when I got the rabbit. They live in harmony, but I took their introduction pretty slow. A goldendoodle should be highly trainable, but a pup is of course always a little bit crazy =)
