My english angora bunny, Tasha, has goopy eyes. She’s had it for a few days now, both eyes, and I had just been wiping it away because it didn’t appear to be anything bad. I got her out of her cage to groom her earlier, and the area in front of her left eye looked slightly inflamed, and like the fur was pulling away from her skin. Her eye was still goopy, as well (the goop is clear/whitish). I’m not very experienced with health-related things in rabbits (my rabbits have never had problems before.) and I’m not sure what the treatment for this is, and if it can be home-treated or if I should take her to a vet.

Clear whitish discharge sounds like it might be a bacterial infection. Probably best to get her checked out.

How long have you had her? Does she have any wood based litter or bedding in her habitat? It can sometime irritate the eyes..

We don’t have money for a vet, nor do we really have good rabbit vets in my area.

I’ve had her for a couple months. She was given to us by a friend who couldn’t take care of her anymore. She’s a 3-year-old mini rex. She was completely fine just the other day, but now she has whitish discharge from her eyes and is sneezing and stuff. I just picked up some terramycin and have been treating her eyes with it but it’s not helping. I’ve been looking into it, and a friend says that she might have ‘snuffles’. It also looks like her face is starting to swell. If she does have snuffles – which I’ve been told is very contagious – would it be best to move her out of the barn and somewhere else? One of my other rabbits – Gracie – has a cage right next to her but isn’t showing any symptoms.
