So my bun has a chronic weepy eye. She has a bond mate who’s suppose to be helping with that but as of yet he isn’t. Anyway this morning it looked like she was squinting so I checked it out and she had dried goop under her eye and when I ran a washcloth over it some white goop came out of her eye onto the wash cloth. I’m not sure what to do, I just started a new job so I can’t really afford a vet visit.

Ok. For now, brew a teacup of chamomile tea, let it cool to lukewarm, put a few drops of iodine or similar disinfecting solution in it, and with a clean washcloth, use it to gently dab the weepy eye every hour or so (or as often as you manage). If you can, pop into a pharmacy and get an over the counter eye ointment (or drops) containing fusidic acid and apply that to affected eye twice a day. With any luck, it’s just a scratched cornea or blocked tear duct and this regimen will help it clear up.

Update: Nova went to the hospital like two days later. Her tear duct was blocked and infected. The Doc said they got a big glob out of her duct. So she was on medicine for two weeks. Then her eye infection turned into an ear infection so now we are dealing with that. :/ But all in all she is doing well!

That’s not an uncommon complication, but it still sucks.

Hope she’s feeling a bit better. (((Nova)))
