So they finally had a position open up for me.  It’s in the records center at my credit union.  Basically I’ll just be pulling records for other employees as needed and by customer request.  So it’s a support position.  I think it’ll be a good fit for me because I love to research and that’s part of the job – researching files.  lol  Plus I won’t be dealing with the public.  Just other employees.  Once I get settled into the position, my hours will be 11:30 to 8pm.  Which suits me as I’m not a morning person.  LOL

The main concern is my stupid spine and how it’s going to react.  My surgeon put me on restriction – basically I’m to get up every 2 hours for 10 minutes to stretch and walk around.  We’ll see how it goes.

I’m really nervous.  I know it will be fine, but I haven’t worked since last July.  So it’s kind of like starting a new job.  But I’m excited too cause I’ll finally have money coming in.  So I’ll be able to buy Lolli some new toys and maybe a tunnel haven!!!  Cause that’s the most important thing!

Congrats! Does your job involve sitting at a computer all day? Make sure your bosses help you set up a super ergonomic work station – it makes a huge difference. I have neck/back tension that gives me headaches and for the last few days I’ve finally had my laptop raised up so I’m not hunched over it. What a difference! Get a good chair too.

Good luck getting settled there and I hope you have minimal pain issues. Make sure you do some exercises and things if the doctor recommends them during your 10min breaks.

Thanks everyone! As long as my spine holds up, I think this is going to be great position! No dealing with the public!!! Yay!!! LOL I work 8-4:30 this week and next then will switch to 11:30am to 8pm. And it’s Monday through Friday which I’ve never had before.

Hopefully Lolli will be ok. I know she will be, but I just worry. She’s been perfectly fine so far with me being at home, but not with her, so I’m sure she’ll be fine.

                      Light Duty

                      Do you have required breaks?

They aren’t required per se. Everyone is free is pretty much go get something to eat/drink/potty at will. But my restriction states that I have to have a break every 2 hours for 5-10 minutes to get up and move and stretch. Which isn’t a big deal at all.

You should set a timer or something (or a reminder on your computer) to ensure that you’re taking your breaks. Good luck! I’m sure everything will be fine with both you and Lolli!
