So – Lola is getting shipped off to my boyfriend’s parents house for nine (!!!) days while we go visit my parents.  She has visited there before but I always feel like she is sad when she is not at home – and that was with me there.  They have a completely bun-safe room for her and my boyfriend is taking up her hay, bedding, toys, food, etc. but I just feel so bad. I can’t even take her up and say good-bye tomorrow because I have a huge final.  Has anyone ever been away from their fur baby this long? I can’t be the crazy girl who asks to Skype with their rabbit – they will really think I’ve lost it…but I’m going to miss her!

We went on vacation last year. We left the buns at home since my parents didn’t want them at their house. My mom was just supposed to come over every day and take care of them. I felt awful! They survived fine. Although Wooly needed to be shaved after we got back because my mom didn’t brush him and apparently didn’t let them out of the cage the entire time.

I left my buns for 8 days a few year ago. It was super hard. I missed them so much and called their babysitter every day.

Im sure she will be fine. Make sure to leave detailed care instructions and emergency numbers.

And theres nothing wrong with calling and asking them to put her up to the phone so she can hear your voice.

I’ve left the bunnies for 10+ days before. I’m sure she’ll be fine! I’m sure she’ll be a little nervous in a new place at first, but she’ll get used to it and have a ton of fun exploring everything. Just ask them to send updates every day or so and you can hear about how much fun she’s having 😉

I’m leaving for a week in July, boyfriend gets to take care of them… and I know they are going to be confined for a lot of it. Make a check list sheet for each day – that way they can go “check, check, check” and then throw the first one away and then next day grab the next one. And nothing wrong with asking to talk to your bunny My grandmother has me talk to her dogs on the phone cause one of them used to live with me lol

I left for 4 days a year and a half ago, and came back to the dreaded bunny butt, thumps, and the cold shoulder. I even bought treats and toys home.

I’ve left Tait a few times now and he’s usually just SO happy to be completely free range again, that he forgets to be mad I’ve left Nate once now and I got some extra kisses, but he doesn’t really care who is with him as long as it’s somebody.

I always leave a detailed list for whoever is looking after the animals. I make a section for each animal and then a morning section and an evening section with what needs to be done at what time.

Thanks so much for all the comforting words guys!  My little dumpling was all bundled up and is off to her grandma’s house with what I call the “Lola Instruction Manual” – you know, just a little list of things to make her stay go a little more smoothly.  I miss her already though and wish I had her to snuggle with after I got out of my Final.
