Gimli says hi!

I just got my first rabbit, a Holland Lop, that I’ve named Gimli. He so reminds me of the dwarf from Lord of the Rings. My daughter decided she wanted a bunny and I started looking for one for her and found this little guy. He is almost 4 months old. He was neutered earlier today and I picked him up tonight. The breeder works at a vet. She said they had free fed him and didn’t realize how big he had gotten.. he’s 4 1/2 pounds. lol He was an outside rabbit that her girls raise for 4H (his dad shows) but now he’s an indoor spoiled bun. I love his big feet! He’s already gave me nose kisses.  I’ve made smaller a NIC cage to start with to work on litter training and then enlarging it as he learns.  Also, my daughter and her husband ended up adopting one as well but they got a mini lop from a different breeder. 

A few questions: 
 I have him in an extra bedroom but am wondering if he’ll get lonely in there or should his cage be in the living room? I work from home so he’ll be in here with me most of the time, only sleeping in there at night and when I run to town. I’m not sure if they need a private, quiet place for him time or not.

Can anyone help me with what color he is? I forgot to ask her that. 

Otherwise, I spent countless hours reading posts here and other places on the net so I think I’ve got most of it covered. I’m sure if I don’t I’ll be asking. Thanks and can’t wait to get to know you all.

Hello and welcome, what a cute little guy. I’m somewhat sure that his colour could be black tort (also known as sooty fawn depending which country you live in).

Having him in an extra bedroom is fine if you’ll be spending most of your day with him anyway. They don’t need a quite out of the way room for quiet/alone time, Bandit simply used to retreat to his cage when he wanted time away from things, but if you have a busy household it can also be good if they’re not too much in the thick of things depending on their personality. It sounds like a good set up. If you had him in a separate room and then were away all day working I’d say it wouldn’t be good because he would be alone so much, but I think you’ll be fine

Thank you. I’ll keep him in there then. Seems to be working so far. I wrote his breeder and she said black tort so thanks again.

Thank you. He is already giving bunny kisses and using his litter pan to pee all the time and poop most of the time. Not bad after less than 48 hrs.
