When my bunny was laying on my chest I noticed small gurling noises from his belly so I googled it and read about GI stasis.

He has none of the other symptoms at all. He seems painless, he’s eating peeing and pooping fine, and has a good energy level. I am just concerned about the gurgling? I’m not sure if it’s normal belly noises or if my baby is getting sick and this is a beginning symptom. He did ingest some carpet fibers over 48 hours ago, not too much but I believe he did ingest a little.

Could the gurgling be a beginning sign or is it normal digestion noises? I’ve never really listened to his belly so i feel bad i can’t compare what I heard today to anything else. But again his poop is completely normal and his appetite is great..

I just am curious about the signs of GI. Do more come on over time or do all of the begin at once? :/

Gurgling is usually a sign of gas moving in the stomach which could eventually lead to GI stasis, which is the build up of a blockage in the GI tract. You could give him a little bit of baby gas drops that are unflavored. The signs of GI stasis usually show when the blockage is already bad enough to cause those signs so you wouldn’t be able to tell until then.thats when they stop eating and pooping.

Gentle gurgling that you can only hear close up is normal! A very quiet tummy is a tummy in stasis, which is very bad.

Loud gurgling usually means gas, as Rain said. If you ever have doubts, you can give a tummy rub and some gas drops, as they won’t hurt him.

Gas can be a symptom of a slowdown, but as long as he is eating and pooping fine, and doesn’t seem lethargic or in pain (hunched posture, loud tooth grinding, and squinting are all symptoms of pain), then he’s prob fine.
